The Old Testament comes to thrilling life in the latest from Lynn Austin.
In one life-changing moment, the lives of the Jewish exiles in Babylon are thrown into confusion and despair when a decree arrives from the king's palace in Susa. It calls for the annihilation of every Jewish man, woman, and child throughout the empire on the 13th day of Adar, in less than one year. Ezra, a quiet Jewish scholar and teacher, is suddenly called upon to lead the community as they seek God for a reason for this catastrophe. When a second decree arrives, authorizing them to fight back, Ezra is thrust into the role of military leader as they defend themselves against their enemies. When the battles come to an end, Ezra's brother Jude is dead and Ezra is required by the Law he so diligently studies to marry Jude's widow, Devorah, and provide an heir. Fatherhood changes Ezra, and he asks God to make a way for him and the other exiles to leave Babylon for good and return to Jerusalem. His prayers are answered and the exiles move to Judea to revitalize worship at the temple - but the fight to keep God's Law is never easy. As more and more of his community are tempted, a new battle emerges...this one for the survival of God's covenant and the souls of His chosen faithful.

Once again, Lynn Austin has captivated my attention with the way she tells the biblical stories. Also, it is a great choice for Suzanne Toren to keep reading these books. These two are a dynamic duo. Keep writing Lynn and I will keep listening.
I can't wait for the next book to come out!
"Wonderful book of Faith and redemption"
I loved this book!
The narrator's ability for you to hear each voice was impeccable. Could not stop listening!I would highly recommend this book.
An incredible, beautiful story! Loved the history in the story...it makes the Bible come to life! Lynn Austin has become one of my favorite inspriratonal, historical fiction writers...right up there with Brock and Bodie Thoene.
"Even better than the first!"
This book takes the reader through the events in the book of Esther from the perspective of Jewish families and not Esther herself. It was amazing, captivating, and brought me back to the time of the Old Testament. I'm sorry it's over !
"a story of God's judgment balanced by His Grace"
loved how the story weaved together highs and lows in the lives of his people to demonstrate His everlasting love.
loved it could not put it down finished in two days
Great book was very memorable
"great in every way"
Though Austin ' s characters are portrayed with vivid imagination, God remains strictly Biblical.

"wonderful * highly recommend! "
I loved this story as it made the TORAH/ Guidelines and instructions of our Creator ABBA YHVH ELOHIM, come alive in a relevancy to their times and also in ours today- even though we are also yet in dispersion.
"Long but really good!"
