For Cruz Livingston, becoming an FBI agent is a lifelong dream, guarding the streets of San Antonio, a calling. His latest assignment - infiltrating the Red Brothers Motorcycle Club - will help stem the flow of illegal drugs brought into the city by the violent gang. He expects the job to be dangerous. He doesn't expect to meet the woman of his dreams while undercover.
Mickie Kaiser is refreshingly sweet, but her sister is intimately involved with the RBMC's president. Cruz can't afford to come clean about his double life without putting his operation in danger, but as violence creeps ever closer to Mickie, his priority becomes crystal clear. Cruz will do anything to keep Mickie alive...even if it means losing her love.

"Will not make favorites list"
I listened up to the last hour, but couldn't go further. The story itself is good; however, I prefer romances where there is real chemistry between the characters and that happens most often when the character's physical aspects and mental aptitude are similar.
I could not fit Mickie and Cruz into that mold. I just did not like Mickie. I really did not think she and Cruz meshed, as the story implied. Cruz is the strong, handsome, type who seems to apply himself and is truly working toward the greater good. Mickie is described as not that pretty, college educated but with no real ambition, and no real hopes for her future. The story line would have been SO much better had Mickie been more compatible with Cruz.
The detail that Susan included in this story was shocking, but unfortunately very close to reality. I loved Cruz and Mickie.
"not my favorite by this author"
This was not my favorite book by this author. There was a decent plot and I liked the main two characters. the rest were awful with poor values. Drugs and sex dominated this book. I have been apprehensive about purchasing book and do not recommend.
The story is fast and the characters are realistic. I love this authors work! I like that the ladies are neither feminists nor helpless.
I know when I pick up a Susan Stoker book I WON'T be disappointed. I have read several of her books and now I'm listening to them during my commute and when doing chores around the house.
"I'm loving this series!!"
This series has enough suspense and romance to equal out. I listen every chance I can get.
"Well written and well performed. Not my preference"
I'm not a fan of motorcycle club books. But I do love police/military books. This combination was not my personal preference, but I've read through the previous series and started this series. I wanted to read this part of the series before moving on. The law enforcement perspective of this book helped me get beyond the motorcycle club scenes to the romance story beneath it. While the story is well done and the audio is well performed, this was not my favorite of the series just because of the subject matter chosen. If you don't mind the motorcycle club stuff, you'll love this book.
