No matter where she looks, Jasmine Molina's life is hard: her mother passed away, her brother is fighting overseas, and all she has left in the world is a drunken gambling addict for a father, a man who steals her hard-earned tips every time there's a "sure thing" at the track. Behind in her tuition payments and the utility bills, the last thing Jasmine needs is a spoiled-brat rich kid making her life miserable.
Gage Kingsley and his gang of snotty fraternity brothers have painted a target on Jasmine's back, and they take special delight in picking on her daily. But when they show up at her house in the middle of the night to collect an overdue loan from her father, Gage and Jasmine's worlds truly collide.
There's only one way out...accept Gage's offer of marriage, or watch her father die.

"Unusual contemporary romance"
The plot seemed interesting but some of the details made it quite Unbelievable. There seem to be little chemistry between Jasmine and Cage. She goes from disliking him to accepting to marry him because of a $3,000 debt! In my opinion, getting married does not really translate into being "responsible". There were a series of odd and unusual behavior. People don't usually get blackmailed by someone they dislike and seal the deal immediately by sleeping with them!
The narration was good and brought the story to life. Although, there was little emotion in the voices portrayed.
The conclusion was ok. I don't think the flow of events made sense to me but perhaps some people might think it does.

There were moments I was shocked and there were moments I thought his was steamy but still I enjoyed listening to this. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
"Cute twist on a Cinderella story"
After losing her mother, Jasmine's father turns to gambling to make ends meet, but it only ends in disaster. Gage loves to bully Jasmine in college, and when she discovers that he's actually her father's bookie he decides to make her an offer she can't refuse. I enjoyed watching the two main characters overcome trials and grow close throughout the story. Gage was a huge prick in the beginning, but redeems himself by the end. The narrator does a great job of bringing the characters to life and I enjoyed listening to this story!
"Warning: Do NOT try this at home.. haha"
totally insane plan!
Gage, which surprised me a bit, i tend to prefer the female lead, but Gage goes through a lot of growth during the story and the transformation is amazing to see.
The naughty scene with the cake, so hot!
What do you get when a rich boy blackmails a struggling girl into marrying him? Great chemistry, hot sex, and lots of misunderstandings, that's what.
The story is narrated well, I wasn't a total fan of the male voices, but they weren't bad. It had a good rhythm and it added nicely to a well crafted story.

"Undeveloped, Unrealistic & Unbelievable"
So much potential lost to an undeveloped plot. Where was the angst, the challenge, and the intrigue? Everything happened too easily which made it unbelievable. The premise itself, while interesting, was hinging on unrealistic details. Even if I suspended reality because I was listening to fiction, there were just too many odd actions and unusual reactions. And sadly, a solid beta read could've tightened the plot and made this into a top read because the potential was there.
The narration was ok. My guess is without it, the story rating may have been lower. The narrator didnt use much inflection to bring across the emotion in the voices portrayed. Maybe because there wasn't any drama for her to play into.

"Hitched to the Heir"
sure, although I thought the book could've used a little bit better ending.
I have not listened to a book by Ella Slade before so I don't know, sorry.
I thought she was good...although at some points she sounded whinny.
yes...because I thought the ending could've been so much better

Although I liked the book...I thought that it was slow in places, that the characters were not "real" someone would not just fall on top of someone they hate as quickly as she did. Although I know its just a story, it wasn't realistic at all. :( What happened with Gage's mom? Did she accept the baby in the end? How about her father & brother, how did they feel about her naming the baby after her mother?
"On the fence with this one"
Where to begin, I found the story hard to believe not only is the plot un serial but the main character cage came off as big A hole by Black mailing jasmine for his rich selfish reasons. They tried to portray jamine as a tough sassy girl but they failed at it. The fact she lets cage talk her into a scam that may or may not benefit her in the end, at the coast of her integrity. Their is no chemistry, love only lust. As the story continues it becomes more ridiculous. Not only does cage talk jasmin into marrying him but also asked her for a baby. WTH this is what you call pure fiction. Lol 😂. This is my opinion some may find it good I was not one of them, the narrator was good

I'd say this book ranks somewhere in the middle of everything I've read. I enjoyed listening to it, but would have liked to see a little more romance.
There wasn't anything really radical in this story that stands out above any other thing except maybe the fact that the heroine demands respect no matter what position she's put into. She has a strong sense of self.
Meghan Kelly did a great job narrating the entire book. She expressed emotion very well, and made it very clear which character was speaking.
This was a quick, sexy romp. The female lead is strong, and the male lead is someone you learn to love. The sex scenes were definitely steamy, I just wish there had been a little more romance between the characters. They go from hate to love so abruptly that I was left feeling just a bit cheated. It was still a good book though, and worth the listen! ~I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.~
"SADLY, UNDERDEVELOPED AND FOOLISH"
"I received this audiobook for review consideration."
I'm not sure what to say... I don't like giving bad reviews. I wasn't impressed with the writing or flow. The plot could have been made into a better story with, I don't know, maybe angst, power, pain, challenge. Like, brutal debt collectors - hostage or slave for money - big brother fighting for kidnapped sister... or anything other than the pansy actions here. This totally missed the mark. In what world does knocking up a girl (albeit, after the fact) and marrying her translate to "responsible?" And in what world is a $3,000 debt large? And when does a guy introduce a girl, claim engagement and move her and her dog into his parents house, all in one day? Oh, the list goes on... but I won't.
Meghan did a good job with voice variations and inflections but there didn't seem much heart in the dialogues. No tempo change, just speech at a steady pace. I wouldn't have been able to muster much enthusiasm, either.
Sorry. Keeping my thumbs in my pockets.
"Worth The Listen"
I received this book for an honest review.
I was thrilled to hear that the book was in third person. I've never been a fan of first person. However, it's third person one POV. I wish some of the story was written in Gage's POV.
The story starts off nice. Gage is not mature enough to tell Jasmine he likes her. He acts like a school grader by teasing and torturing her. He's portrayed as a typical rich kid. However, this rich kid is a bookie, because it's a business venture that gets him out of his old money family's shadow.
This audiobook is short, but it does have some hot sex scenes. I wish parts of the story was longer, but overall, it is a great book. The sex scenes make it worth the listen.
This is a story that I think is most suited to a young adult audience. Though I feel it can be enjoyed by other age groups it is more geared to really young listeners. Maybe over 18 because it does have a lot of sexual content. Though I was happy to listen to it, there were things in the story that I felt were not really quite likely or believable. So I will say it is a fare story and worth reading, but not to my taste.
