They don't play for the same team. Or do they?
Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wisecracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were 18? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.
Ryan Wesley's biggest regret is coaxing his very straight friend into a bet that pushed the boundaries of their relationship. Now, with their college teams set to face off at the national championship, he'll finally get a chance to apologize. But all it takes is one look at his longtime crush, and the ache is stronger than ever.
Jamie has waited a long time for answers but walks away with only more questions - can one night of sex ruin a friendship? If not, how about six more weeks of it?
When Wesley turns up to coach alongside Jamie for one more hot summer at camp, Jamie has a few things to discover about his old friend...and a big one to learn about himself.
Warning: Contains sexual situations, hotties on hockey skates, skinnydipping, shenanigans in an SUV, and proof that coming out to your family on social media is a dicey proposition.

"Where have these narrators been all my life?"
I already read this book and absolutely loved it! When I saw the audiobook was available I was excited but really nervous about the narration. Bad narration can screw up a good book. I was not disappointed! Both did extremely well. I will definitely re-listen to this book and find more books narrated by these guys in the future. Sooo good!
"Fantastic story + great narration = <3 <3"
First book I've listened to with dual narrators and loved both voices. The story is one of my favourites and it was only made richer by being read aloud. These characters are in my top five favourites for NA characters.
"Wonderful Story and Perfect Narration!!!"
5 FANTASTIC FEEL GOOD HOT STARS!!!
and 5 MORE FOR NARRATION!!
I need to start by saying I've never enjoyed a M/M book before and actually bought this one by accident not knowing it was M/M. I was told how great and hot this book was so once I started it and realized it was M/M, I decided to give it a chance even though I was sure I wouldn't finish it. Boy was I wrong!!!! I got up at 2am and finished it because I couldn't stop thinking about it!
This is a story about friendship, love and acceptance!
We have Jamie, he is the guy everyone loves, hot, sweet, sexy, fun and on his way to the NHL but he is a little apprehensive about what he wants to do with his life. He's the easy going, very laid back one. He has an amazing family and a girl "friend" who knows he is just having fun and will be moving on when they finish college.
Then we have Ryan "Wes" Wesley, he is also the fun loving guy everyone loves, he is hot, sexy, sweet, confident and gay. He is on his way to the NHL too and it's all he has ever wanted...except maybe his old friend from camp which he hasn't seen in years.
These two are explosive together. That is the only way I can explain it! Their friendship lasts the test of time and their budding relationship is so sweet, perfect and sexy. I love that they are always honest with each other (even if sometimes it takes them awhile to tell the other how they are feeling) and that they aren't really caught up on others opinions except for the people who's opinions can change their lives. This book honestly has just about no real drama that it is so refreshing! I can't even explain how happy this book left my heart! It was a true love story to me. Along with the sweet love story, this book was hot, the way these two want each other is incredible and their need for each other all the time is almost as hot as the actual sex. I need more books like this one!
The narration was awesome! Both of these guys were spot on with these characters. I am so glad that they chose to have dual narration because it made this story come to life for sure.
"One of my favorite audiobooks of the year!"
Him, HIM, HIIIIMMMMMMMM!!!
Easily one of my favorite books from this year. Easily.
This book was aaaammmmmaaaazzziiiinnnggg!
I started listening to this book on a road trip with one of my friends, and let me tell you, that car got STEAMY. This book is HOT, and when I got home from the trip, I spent the next five hours listening so I could hear how it ended!
The audio for this book was really, really excellent, and a good audiobook always bumps up my rating and improves my feelings about a story. There are two narrators for this story, Teddy Hamilton, who did the voice of Jamie Canning, and Jacob Morgan, who did the voice of Ryan Wesley. I preferred the narration of Jacob Morgan for his sexy, understated performance, but both guys did a PHENOMENAL job. There was so much emotion, so much talent in their voices that I KNOW that both of these guys will be on my audiobook radar. Why don't more M/M authors (or M/F, for that matter), use them!? These guys are A-team material!
But the story is what got me. Just right in the feels! I just DIED over it. First of all, I'm a huge fan of sexual discovery stories, as I'll call them, and I LOVED discovering Jamie's bisexuality along with him. And loooord, you guys know I love a (view spoiler). Those sex scenes were SMOKING HOT, with so much sexual tension that I was at the edge of my seat.
I'm not usually one to go gaga for sports romance or big, muscle-men, but I think hockey might be the spot where I make my exception. In fact, I've had a great string of sports romances lately, so maybe I should change my tune. Everything in this book, from the hockey details to the kids they coached to the friends-to-lovers story arc, just hit the right note for me.
This book was veeerrryyy close to making my all-time favorites list, which I'm very exclusive with, and I'm still debating adding this one. It was one of those stories that made me choke up with emotion, and left me feeling raw and happy and overwhelmed. The LOVE is there and so powerful.
Awesome job, Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen. You both became auto-buy authors for me.
"An amazingly pleasant surprise!"
This is the first book I've read in its genre since I was a curious teenager who bought a naughty book at a bookstore in the airport in Copenhagen. I chose this book because of the amazing reviews. When it began and I realized it was a story about hockey players I nearly stopped listening since I'm not personally a hockey fan. I'm so glad I didn't. It's a story about hockey players, but it's so much more than that.
I was prepared for a poorly-written tale with some hopefully hot sex scenes riddled with cringeworthy dialogue. It wasn't that at all. It was a great story with fantastic narration that really caught my interest. It was an easy listen and I found that I couldn't stop listening, even pulling out my phone to listen to the story during my lunch breaks and, ahem, before bed.
The story was great, the characters were beautifully developed, and the sex scenes were HOT and so not sleazy. I don't think the sex scenes made me cringe a single time. They did, however, elicit plenty of other bodily reactions. Yep, I said it.
I wish they would make this into a movie. I'd be there to see it on opening night.
"By far an all time favorite! Didn't want it to end"
Was absolutely captivated all 42 chapters. And I usually prefer science fiction, but something about this story connected with me. I literary locked myself away an listened start to finish. Will definitely be checking out this author again.
"Just Yes! Freaking Yes!"
I've never heard of these two authors, or narrators so I bought it hoping I wouldn't have to return it. Boy oh boy it's so good - like ridiculously good. I was smiling, laughing, and gasped quite a few times (rather loudly to the dismay of the people around me). Just read it! It's low angst, low drama (thank god), hot scenes, and great storyline. Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan did an amazing narrating this book. I can't wait for the sequel!
"5 star listen!!"
Audio is my favorite way to re-read a book. I loved him when I read it, I loved Him even more listening to it.
The narrators were FANTASTIC. Really captures Wes and Jamie's characters. Love that they were able to get 2 male narrators, it really makes a difference. I could listen to them talk all day.
Here is my review of the story:
I SO loved this book!!
I'm a big fan of Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen so when I learned they were writing a book together I was so excited! To learn that it was M/M was the frosting on the cake.
What I loved about this book:
- The writing. Seriously. I can't believe it was written by 2 people. It was seamless and so easy to read.
- Friends to lovers - Jamie and Wes - despite not having seen each other for a while - know each other. They have history and their relationship goes deeper than a spark attraction.
- Chemistry - omg. I loved the chemistry between Jamie and Wes. I loved Jamie's self discovery. In the beginning of the book he is straight, then as he recognizes his attraction to Wes he realizes he maybe isn't as straight as he thought he was. The sex between these two is HOT!
This is a light, easy, sexy, romantic read. Not to much angst or drama. But it kept me turning the pages - I couldn't get enough. It was one of those - I can't stop reading, but I don't want it to end so maybe I should take a break so it will last longer - no way I need to see what happens next!!
I highly recommend!!
Some of the quotes I highlighted:
"It's not an exaggeration to say I've always felt a little more alive when he's around. Life is just a little brighter, a little louder wherever Wes is."
"He doesn't need skill - he just needs to be here. Him. Here. With me."
"My dick and I reached an understanding."
"Yeah? And what's that?" I ask curiously.
He shrugs. "We both like you."
Bottom line: read it. Or listen to it. Better yet, do both!!
"Absolutely Great Story!!"
Everything about this book was top notch! From the great storytelling, narrative and scorching sex scenes this book exceeds 5 stars on all accounts. It's a feel good book that I listened straight thru. I love the characters, their honest pragmatic reactions to real life obstacles and of ccourse - happy endings. I just know I will listen to this book over and over again.
"Better than 'Something like Summer'"
Reminded me of it - but oh so much better! Characters felt so real, hot sex did NOT hurt, and I found myself emotionally engaged with the characters -especially that f*cking HOT 'Wes'. Aahhh!! Did not want it to end!
"Exceptional storytelling for a brilliant story..."
The passion, the uncertainty, the snark....it was just a fabulous read. I would definitely go to Ice Hockey matches if there was a team nearby. The narrators were just as I imagined Wes and Jamie to be....can I give any higher praise than that??
I think that should actually be 'What DO Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan bring to the story'....;) I have no idea which narrator read which character, but I was mightily impressed with both. The audio book has already gone into my Great Audio Books folder on my Kindle, along with the Tin Box by Kim Fielding, Murder & Mayhem by Rhys Ford, Knight of Laguna Avenue by Tara Lain, Perfect Imperfections by Cardeno C and the Bear, Otter & the Kid trilogy by TJ Klune.
Yes of course. HIM is in my top three reads for 2015, and I've already listened to the audio book twice.
I enjoyed this book too darn much! Two people who truly love each other deeply and a wealth of people loving them in turn. Narration is brilliant and contributes a vlear voice to their story.
I just love this book soooo much, the best book I have ever listened to by far
Wes and Jamie's story was simply beautiful. I could turn around and listen to it again straight away and I never do that. 2 friends one with a secret that he's in love with the other and always has been..you can possibly guess what happens but oh boy it was great getting there !!!
