Do you believe in love after life?
Looking for a fresh start, Peyton Clark becomes the proud owner of a piece of New Orleans history: an Antebellum-era two-story house in the Garden District. It’s going to take time and a fat wallet to restore the fixer-upper to its former glory, but after her recent divorce, Peyton could use the distraction.
It’s not long before Peyton discovers she’s moved into the haunted home of a flirtatious paranormal prankster. She’s receiving kisses from unseen lips and caresses from a ghostly hand, and soon she begins to have vivid dreams, bringing her face-to-face with the incomparably handsome ghost of Drake Montague.
When Peyton grows closer to her general contractor, Ryan Kelly - who is as charming as he is alive - the chill in the air could only suggest Drake’s jealousy from beyond the grave. But even though she’s definitely attracted to and interested in Ryan, Peyton also can’t get Drake out of her dreams, or her heart, as she begins to uncover the frightening truth behind his death a century ago…

It is obvious I love audible & I am addicted to it too!!
from the headline of my review. i will sum into three words.
3. BREATH OF FRESH AIR (tho those are four words)
Kate Rudd's performance was incredible!!
compare to other narrator i listened to Kate Rudd is by far the best.
I like her performance...she is awesome!!!! I am totally sucked into the story when she narrated.
she does it effortlessly. (i don't know about other people's perspectives but i like it)
I don't know why the audiobook is sold at cheap price but i am sure glad it did because i honestly....LOVE LOVE LOVE....this audiobook.
i think that this book needs more recognition. it might be slow at times but its part of it just need to wait it out.
I hope to have more books like this or more then just two books.
I have not read the print edition .. so I have nothing to compare it to.
I enjoyed Peyton and Ryan's courtship.. so to speak. It was nice to see them become friends and things slowly go from there. But, the whole story was good. I enjoyed hearing about her new home and the plot was excellent. The Axeman. Everything seemed very believable. I also enjoyed the two that came to exorcise the house. The freezing air, the house shaking and moaning. I wonder what will happen when Ryan finds out she is possessed? Guess we will find out in the next book?
I thought she did an excellent job with Peyton's voice but I wasn't thrilled with The way Ryan sounded. He was described as extremely handsome and very manly that the voice just did not do him justice.
I laughed in some spots but really it was neither funny or sad.
"Great Plot, Mystery and Characters!"
Ghouls Rush In was a good mix of mystery, romance, and a haunting combined to create a story that was refreshing, funny, flirty, and mysterious. The century old mystery was very interesting, slightly scary at times, along with a brush from the other side.
May Contain Spoilers:
Recently divorced Peyton, moves into an old house she inherited; however, it needs a lot of renovations, and appears to be haunted. When she first moves in, she meets Ryan, a neighbor who lives close by. There's an immediate attraction between them, and lots of innocence flirting. She convinces him to be her contractor, and oversee the renovations that need to be done. The other man in her life, Drake, comes to her in her dreams, and has been watching her closely since she's moved in. Until she stumbled across some old newspaper clippings about a murder over a century ago, he was unable to communicate with her; however, now that her mind is open to him, he visits in her dreams. He's sexy with a French accent. While the house is being renovated, her attractions and relationships grow, along with the mystery that needs to be solved.
Kate Rudd has narrated lots of stories along with some best sellers. Her performance really animated this story, I loved how she preformed Drake's character and his accent.
While considering this audiobook, I noticed mixed reviews which gave me pause; however, I am glad I decided to listen to the story and was not disappointed. The century old mystery, along with the blooming relationships, and the supernatural element definitely held my attention.
I took advantage of Kindle Unlimited and borrowed the audiobook for free; however, this story would be a great whispersync deal, or buy at the sale price.
"Better than Dulcie."
I liked Mallory's Jolie Wilkins series, and the first half of the Dulcie O'Neil books.
I thought this was much better than the others. Its contemporary with some ghosts instead of a completely different paranormal world, which was nice. It wasn't quite so over the top and the romance didn't feel forced.
The first half was an introduction to a romance story, ghosts didn't come in until much later. The ghosts were okay. I listened to this at 1.5 speed to get through it faster. I'm hoping now that all the groundwork has been done, the next book will have more action and less angst.
"was great listen"
loved this listen.... had twist and turns and just alot of fun.... ready for the next one.....
"A disappointing ending"
This was a fun and quirky book when I first started. As the story went on however I found it to be a bit dragging. I loved the narrator she did an amazing job. This is a book you can enjoy on an afternoon of cleaning. I'm not sure how the rest of the series is going to be, but this first book was for me lacking.
The biggest problem I have with this book is the lack of substance. Everything in the story line is one dimensional and flat. The worst of it was the ending. The author built up to a dramatic and really a pretty epic ending and it just is like the author didn't know how to finish the book. I know that this is a series and the ending should be a cliffhanger, but this wasn't a cliffhanger it was a plunge off a shier rock face. The author missed the mark completely in my opinion.
Ok, I liked the story, theme, and the characters. Left a few unfinished storylines but overall it was good. The title of the story is a little misleading in that Ghouls are not a part of the story...ghosts, yes.
"Cute story, a bit formulaic but fun"
The story was mind candy. A bit of fluff and formulaic but fun too. It moved swiftly and was a bit difficult to buy at times but still a fun read.
New Orleans is my favorite American city. I love stories set in The Big Easy.
Peyton is an absolutely lovely character. Feisty and fearless. Ryan has yet to show us what he's made of...and gods, I wish Drake was skin and bones.
Suspense has just enough to remain fresh throughout.
I enjoyed this book. I found it upbeat, fun and entertaining. I bought the audio too so it made housework sooo much easier! I would recommend this to others.
Very chilling and incredibly funny. I actually laughed aloud many times. Well recommended
