When Wren Irving's numbers come up in the first ever national lottery draw, she doesn't tell her husband, Rob. Instead she quietly packs her bags, kisses her six-month-old daughter, Phoebe, good-bye, and leaves.
Two decades later Rob has moved on and found happiness with their oldest friend, Laura. Phoebe, now a young woman, has never known any other life. But when Rob receives a mysterious letter, the past comes back to haunt them all. With their cosy world thrown into turmoil, Laura sets out to track Wren down and discover the truth about why she left all those years ago.

"Good, but not very good. Needed something more!"
This was well written with nicely drawn characters, but it didn't quite have enough substance for me. Everything about it seemed as if it should just have a little more depth. Two thirds in, and I found myself feeling a little bored with it. I was interested enough to want to know what happened to the characters and I wondered if there would be a twist that turned it around. In the event, there was a piece of new information, but it would be a stretch to call it a twist. When it ended, I felt it had been a disappointing listen.
"An amazing story"
This a beautiful story of friendship, love and lost. It's beautifully written and the narration brings it to life with amazing detail. I won't give away anything, only to say just when you think it you have it all worked out and you want everyone else to work it out and catch up there is the most beautiful twist!
"Didn't want it to end!"
I have only listened to this story but I'm very glad I did!
Finding out about Ava'a mother and the final scene!
The final scene - I cried±
Yes - I did cry at the end
I thoroughly enjoyed this story - one of my favourites so far.
It has meaning within the sadness of the book but will make you smile as well.
Lucy Price - Lewis gave depth to the story and realness
the book made me feel sad but also made me feel happy in places. A good book
"It's a must read must finish"
loved this book in suspense right up to the end. well written and well told very enjoyable
It was a good story with lots of hidden story lines.
Yes I would.
Yes. The detail about the wasps was very good and I can only assume a lot of research went into that detail.
I would like to have understood the reasons why the main character did what she did. I waiting through the whole book but the explanation never arrived.
"A bit far fetched but a good read"
I'm not sure this book works but there's enough suspense to keep you listening. However I simply did not believe the chapter of the woman who has taken 'Flight'. There are some good twists and turns though.
"Good not brilliant"
The storyline was decent enough, but with the changing character viewpoints but more difficult to follow. There was a twist, and I thought it would be something else so that did surprise me! Not sure would rush to get another one from her.
Well written story with good plot - thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook.
One tiny criticism is that the narrator read quite quickly in comparison to others I've listened to - but got used to this pace as the story developed.
