Publisher's Summary

Sometimes it takes someone else to show us what we are truly capable of becoming. Suffering from years of violent abuse, Ryan Campbell has learned how to keep people from getting too close. But when you shut yourself off, people get hurt along the way. Never caring much about others, Ryan creates a world in which he doesn't have to feel. When Ryan meets Candace Parker, all of his walls slowly begin to crumble. Not sure of the truth of who she is, he feels his mind is playing tricks on him. Unable to force out the thoughts that consume him, Ryan is haunted by visions that torment him every time he looks at her. He finds himself swallowed by guilt and blame, but he's unwilling to turn his back on the one person that could possibly save him. You've heard Candace's story in Fading, now hear Ryan's.

    Story
"Way to long with very little in the way of romance"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not unless it was in paperback.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have cut out about half of it since it was mostly tears about the something. There was no depth.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I would have love to have a female voice or someone who has a passable female voice. Every other female was a valley girl. Blah.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

A level of spicy. It was too tame.

    Story
    "Omg I love Ryan Campbell"
If you could sum up Falling in three words, what would they be?

I so loved this book better than Fading. This book gave more of a complete story for this couple. Ryan was so loving and supportive, everyone should have a Ryan in their life. This world might be a better place.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Falling?

The extended story that picked up from where Candace's story left off in book 1. I liked seeing them work through their relationship and communicate better. Oh and I loved the diaper incident with the baby, I laughed out loud. I also enjoyed the cat situations too! It just showed another example of how much he cared and loved Candace.

Which character – as performed by Angelo Carillo and Piper Goodeve – was your favorite?

Candace was performed better by Piper, obviously because she is a female. I also like how Piper portrayed her male voice's too. She had good inflection for the male voice's. I can't tell if I liked her better for Candace because by the time Piper does her part as Candace the character, Candace is finally on the road to recovery and therefore stronger and more confident. However, I thought Angelo did a more passionate and feeling portrayal as Ryan. I didn't care for his female Candace, however his mother's voice was ok. I guess I liked them both which is why I am thinking that it would be nice if some how they, being Audible.com & Company could use both male and female narrators to perform more like a play on tape. But I don't know maybe it is too difficult to produce.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book had me laughing and crying. It also had me a little frustrated because of how many times candace apologized. Spoiler alert stop reading this if you don't want to know what happens. I was also frustrated because I would have liked to experience the joys of reading about her pregnancy, I was kind of looking forward to Candace telling him she was pregnant. Especially since Ryan was so good with his niece's and nephews you knew he would have enjoyed the impending fatherhood and that could have added to the story.

    Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the story of this couple and enjoyed this book because of the complete story from start to finish.

"Love the story--the narration killed it for me"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I read this book a while ago and was happy that the Audible version became available. Until I listened to it. What is up with the narrator's female voices?! Awful! I cringed every time he voiced Ryan's mom. And his voice for Candice did nothing to convey her strength. And Kimber? Just...ugh! He did a good job as Ryan and the other male characters. But I died a little bit each time he spoke for a female character. I'll be sticking to the written version.

What did you like best about this story?

I love this series. The story gripped my heart and I love Candice and Ryan together.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

I have a hard time believing this is how the author intended to portray her female characters.

I liked this book. It was heartwarming. It was more believable than couples who fall in love in 2 days

    "Needs major editing"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I think this would only be enjoyed by someone who really likes a long drawn out story. Not only is the book too long, after the first third of the story I found it hard to have any empathy for the heroine. After page, after page, after page of constant "I'm sorry" I really lost interest in her plight. I think Ryan had to be a saint to put up with her.

Has Falling turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not at all. I frequently read books of this genre and find most quite enjoyable.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I liked Angelo's narration but thought he went a little over the top in his mom's voice. Definitely missed that by a mile.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Hard to say. I obviously stuck with the book to the end, so I must have liked something about it! I did like Ryan's character but, again, I don't see how he endured this relationship.

    Any additional comments?

I generally enjoy longer books as they seem to delve deeper into the characters and story lines. However, this book was absolutely too long. Could have been cut by at least one-third and been more enjoyable.

Cheesey and drawn out. Good development of characters, however the book was too drawn out and uneventful.

    "DON'T DO IT!!!!"

I've literally never written a review on audible, but this book annoyed me so much that I had to warn you to stay away. The leading girl has no inspiring qualities whatsoever. She's weak, annoyingly apologetic, and incapable of making it through a page without crying. She makes poor poor choices throughout the book that make it so hard to listen to. I kept listening hoping it would get better and in the end she'd somehow redeem herself. She did not. Please don't waste your time on this one. So many better bad boy "romantic" stories.

What would have made Falling better?

First of this book could be 8 hours or shorter rather than 16. The level of details is horrendous, and every thought and feeling is told more than several times. There is really not much going on there. The editors should have cut all those repetitive passages and details that are not really needed. Like we need to know how she is brushing her teeth and how many times...
Second, narration by A. Carillo was not good. The voice of Ryan was the only voice tolerable. Other mail voices were overly stretched or overly exaggerated, no one talks like that! It was hard to listen. The female voices were really awful.

What was most disappointing about E. K. Blair’s story?

Its length, level of unnecessary details, repetitive sentiments and thoughts.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angelo Carillo and Piper Goodeve ?

Sebastian York makes every book sound great. Piper was good.
