Publisher's Summary

The Boudreaux Series: Sexy. Intriguing. Easy.

Callie Mills never intended to return to New Orleans and the life she left behind more than a decade ago. There was no need to open old wounds when she had the life she'd worked hard for in Denver. But when she's fired from her awesome job in Colorado and her father dies, she has no choice but to return home to run the derelict bar left to her in the heart of the French Quarter. Callie must not only face bad memories but turn The Odyssey into something she can be proud of. And who better to help bring in crowds of people than Declan Boudreaux?

Declan is a sought-after musician who knows he's good at what he does and loves doing it. Known to pack the house, he also loves women and doesn't expect to be knocked back a step by the beautiful new owner of The Odyssey. Callie is sharp, gorgeous, and funny and makes him yearn for something he never has before...commitment.

But when Callie's able to turn the business around with renovations, making it one of the hottest bars in the Quarter, will she sell out and leave her past behind once and for all, or will Declan be able to convince her that's she's where she needed to be all along...in his arms?

"Somewhat predictable but still a very romantic"

Kristen never disappoints. Although the plot is somewhat predictable you can't help but fall in love with the characters. i absolutely ADORE Sebastian York and his voice will melt the panties off anyone. This book was interesting how she brought some of the characters from the "with me in Seattle" series into this book... tired them all together. makes you realize what a small world out truly is.

"A HEARTWARMING, EASY GOING & WELL PACED LOVE STORY"

The thing I love about Kristen Proby's books are that she creates such loveable characters who pull at your heartstrings and you just can't help but get drawn into their intoxicating world. And that's the case with this third book in the Boudreaux series where we meet feisty and independent Callie as she tries to salvage her late Father's Bar and, in doing so, she meets the handsome, sexy and talented Musician Declan Boudreaux. She knows he's a 'no strings' womanizer but the sexual chemistry and mutual attraction are too strong to deny and, when it ignites into a passionate steamy night, Callie knows she's in big trouble.

But misunderstandings soon lead to confusion and hurt pride which brings a halt to their romance.... but it doesn't dampen the mutual attraction. Declan doesn't want to want the beautiful and feisty Bar Owner however he can't get her, and her delicious body, out of his mind but he doesn't know how to do relationships and is easily distracted.... so the calls he should've made never happened. Declan wasn't looking for any commitments and Callie already had more than enough already but they have so much in common, they just click and there's playful and sexy banter between them too but Declan must decide what he wants and do some major damage control.

A very enjoyable easy flowing sexy romance with no major dramas as these two characters try to understand and accept each other as they go from friends to lovers. The secondary cast of family and friends enrich the storyline and make it more entertaining too. Dual POV's and, although the narration was good, the narrator's voices for Declan didn't match because he had a strong Southern drawl when the Chapters were narrated by Rachel F. but, when Sebastian Y. narrated them there was no Southern cadence at all.... not a big problem but just a pet peeve of mine.

Worth a credit? This was a sweet, drama free, hot contemporary romance that was skilfully created by one of my favorite Authors and it had just enough angst and bumps in the road to keep me all tangled up and concerned about the HEA's for two loveable main characters. YES, yet another creditworthy addition by KP.

"Not a great on story or performance"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Anyone interested in poorly written erotica made up of sexual encounters and very little else tying them together.

Has Easy Melody turned you off from other books in this genre?

No but I wouldn't spend the money on subsequent books in the series

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Rachel Fulginiti and Sebastian York ?

    Anyone else who could narrate.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Not really

    Any additional comments?

The plastic sounding accents were just the soured icing on a pretty awful cake.

    "Oh Sebastian."

I absolutely love Sebastian York, but why oh why does he refuse to do the accent? It's like when his chapters come on we start reading a totally different book. Maybe if Rachel didn't do the male character as having a New Orleans accent it would be ok, but going back and forth is so jarring that it really takes away from the story. Other than that, I'm enjoying this series and loving the characters. I do have an issue with so many "platonic" friendships. We are just supposed to believe that all these just friends don't have deeper feelings for each other but romance novels have shown me that m/f friendships always end up in HEA. Stop confusing us Kristen Proby.

    "Another Easy win for Proby"
What made the experience of listening to Easy Melody the most enjoyable?

The female narrator, Rachel Fulginiti, is a consummate pro with her easy "Nawlins" accent and effort to stay in character. Luckily, she didn't have to work hard at her female Callie, since Callie was Louisiana born, moved to Denver and then back to Louisiana suddenly after her father's death. Her Declan was spot-on.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Easy Melody?

I loved how the author brought the characters to Seattle, and a Seahawks Game, albeit unexplained why Callie's favorite team is Seattle Seahawks, after she was in Denver after High School thru College and afterwards... Denver and New Orleans, never been to Seattle before? That was odd, but oh well. Loved the cameos by Leo Nash, Samantha, and a few of the Montgomerys at a small party after a game. Seems Leo knows Declan. <br/>Then.....well, some say memorable moments are good, and in this book, I truly had a problem with Decal's common sense towards the end. That behavior of his was memorable. Not in a good way either! :/

Did Rachel Fulginiti and Sebastian York do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Sebastian's a perfect all-American type narrator, but once you need an accent or effort to stay in character for a non-smarmy male alpha type ... he's just phoning it in. Rachel, on the other hand, should get DOUBLE pay for her efforts. She's got the southern drawl husky sexiness down perfectly.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    No idea, something musical

    Any additional comments?

It's a quick and sexy read. Lots of sex, and creative sex as well.

    "Pretty good contemporary romance :)"

    3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I liked Callie and Declan and enjoyed seeing them get together.

Callie is a bright woman that works managing a bar and flipping houses (buying old houses in bad shape and renovating them and selling them for a profit). Callie's mother died when she was young and she was raised by her father who didn't handle losing his wife well. He basically became a functional alcoholic and Callie grew up taking care of him. She moved away for college and never came back until her father died and she had to come back to handle things.

Declan is one of the many siblings of the Boudreaux family, a family that is wealthy and owns ship building business. Declan isn't a businessman though and has no interest in the family business. Declan is a musician and makes a living doing gigs around New Orleans as well as some songwriting and recording gigs. Declan is a player and doesn't do girlfriends.

When Callie came back to town to bury her father, she found that he left his bar to her. She decided to fix it up and maybe try to sell it but when both her job and boyfriend in Colorado become non-existent at the same time, Callie decides that maybe she'll stick around New Orleans once the bar is fixed up. Declan and Callie meet right after she gets back to town but he doesn't see her for months when she closes down the bar for renovations. Declan is bugged by this because he hasn't been able to get her out of his mind during that whole time and that's not normal for him at all. Callie is attracted to Declan but gets a bad association with him when they first meet and it takes a bit for her to get past her first (erroneous) impression of him.

When Callie's bar reopens, Declan starts playing there every Friday night. The mutual attraction between Declan and Callie is strong so it's not surprising when Declan asks (aka tells) Callie to go out with him and she agrees. They go out and have a great night but Declan doesn't do the relationship thing so he messes up on the followup and Callie dismisses his interest as shallow. Declan wants more than just sleeping with Callie but ends up having to do the "friend" thing in order to get time with Callie. It takes a bit of time but Declan does convince Callie to move past the "just friends" stage. Things aren't easy (you know what assuming makes u and me?) but they do work out in the end, leaving Callie and Declan starting a HEA together.

This was a pretty enjoyable story. I liked Callie really well. My only real complaint is that for as smart as she seemed, when emotions got high, she assumed the hell out of some crap and cause unneeded drama. But it wasn't too bad and I guess there had to be drama or angst somewhere in the story and (as expected with Proby's writing) even the drama wasn't majorly dramatic. The story was pretty good and was interesting enough to keep me reading until the end. Overall, I liked this story and would recommend it.

    * note - There were 2 narrators for this story, a male for the parts from Declan's PoV and a female for the parts from Callie's PoV. They both did alright but I really wish they'd figure out if the characters have accents or not and stick with it in both narrations.

This was one of the best additions to the series. I also love how you are re-introduced to characters from another series. One of the bitter sweet things about finishing a book is saying goodbye to the characters. Kristen Proby has an impeccable seamless way of incorporating previous characters into a very new and fresh storyline. This is a definite new favorite of mine! Its full of laughs, love and a great story anyone could enjoy!

    "Another excellent book 5*****"

If like me, you crave a great story line with strong and interesting characters, great passion and steamy sex, along with the usual misunderstandings and humour that great plots provide then this is the book for you!

A word of warning Sebastian York has just the right amount of deepness and gruffness to his vocal talents to get one totally addicted and I'm seriously impressed by Rachel Fulginiti, an excellent clear and caring performance :-)
