Raised among humans, Ori Jones only discovered he was an avian shifter six months ago. Unable to complete a full shift until he reaches his avian maturity, he still can't be sure of his exact species.

I loved this book!
I was thoroughly entertained and absorbed by this book. The story was excellent and the characters strong and realistic. The narration by Rid M Maskew is excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Interesting but got a little long …
Fledgling avian shifter Ori Jones is way down the pecking order when his first partial shift designates him as a lowly duck. Ori works hard but is treated badly by other avians, especially the crows, until Raynard, a high-ranking falcon shifter, takes him under his wing. There was a lot to love about this romantic m/m spin on the ugly duckling, I enjoyed the world build, the plot and the left-field BDSM. However, I did find it more drawn out than it needed to be, rehashing old ground or just taking extra long to come to the point, and I found Ori fairly lacking on personality and unrelatable - he just came across as mindless or dopey a lot of the time, nearly always pandering to those around him. Raynard was sharp and intelligent but got very stubborn and set in his ways towards the end, it seemed out of character. Their characters both suited their master / sub roles but it irked a bit. British voice actor Rod M. Maskew did a fantastic job on the audiobook (currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue).
