I am the exception to the rule...
In a world full of willing women, I'm a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He's the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor-thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.
Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.
I can't give him what he wants and he can't give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?
Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

More a contemporary romance than erotica, with a sprinkling of intimate scenes. Great character development of main characters, although I was left wondering a little about others. This is the first in a series of three books about one couple, so if you commit to this one, you really need to commit to all three, which is in excess of 40 hours in total. There's some pretty serious issues covered too, including details of child abuse, so be prepared. Could have told the story in half the time, but it's worth the journey.
Wow just wow. I was avoiding starting another series that would draw me in but here I am hooked. There are only two words to describe how I feel right now - Colton Donovan
This is a wonderful beginning to the trilogy. Brilliant writing by Kristy Bromberg and narration by Tatiana Sokolov is very believable. Looking forward to Fueled and Crashed on audio.
"Not Driven Far Enough"
Although I am not happy about it, some authors have decided to divide one story into three books. However, Bromberg ends book one before any pieces of the plot come together. The cliffhanger ends book 1 in the middle of a conflict .
Rylee has been surviving after a big loss. In the story, she meets a gorgeous, self confident man to whom she feels an attraction for the first time in ages. Colton Donavan has issues of his own that prevent him from participating in more than a one night stand or a fling type relationship.
During their first encounter, they both feel the chemistry. However, chemistry or not, Rylee keeps getting her emotions shattered by Colton. Why would she do that?
If cliffhangers are your thing, the writing is good, the narrator is good, and you will enjoy the series. However, cliffhangers are not for me - even though at the end of book three, I know- well I am almost sure - everything will wrap up into happily ever after.
"A steamy fast-paced whirlwind romance!!"
I've actually read book #1 Driven & book #2 Fueled but still decided to try it in audio. I can say that each book gets better and better. I'm still waiting on the last book Crashed to be released in March. Can't wait!! Driven is told from the perspective of Rylee Thomas. She's a 26yrs old working for Corporate Cares, a company that houses orphans. The state turns over their guardianship to her company. Corporate Care, houses kids who are at an age that the chance of adoptions are pretty low. So instead of foster care, they have a home to live in, they have consistency of guardians, rules, school and counselling. Rylee meets Colton Donavan backstage at a charity auction, after getting trapped in the storage closet, Rylee starts to have a panic attack when Colton saves the day. They share an instant attraction, but in the heat of the moment, Rylee realizes that the man that has her body pinned up against him, was only minutes ago getting it on with another woman in the hallway near by. Rylee is soooo not impressed with his playboy slut games and wants nothing to do with any of it. Unfortunately, this refusal only sparks Colton's relentless seduction and chase of Rylee. Before the night is over Rylee finds herself rescued, kissed, insulted, pursued, tempted, coerced and ultimately obligated to a date thanks to a donation paid for by Colton Donavan. Needless to say they are off to a bumpy start. Rylee is very broken with a tragic past and she will fight his seduction every step of the way. Colton however is used to getting what he wants and “Driven” is his middle name. Her resistance only serves to fuel his determination. He ends up making a huge contribution to Corporate Cares and Rylee finds herself working side-by-side with Colton on the project. It becomes apparent that Colton has some major demons which he is determined to keep to himself. Everything about their relationship is so incredibly intense - the good, the bad, the sex, the drama. It's full on. I loved the chemistry between them, these two were hot. Even the scenes where they don't actually have sex were extremely HOT! It was definitely one of those books were 'getting there'was just as good as the act itself. I will admit, I spent the first 70% of the book seriously frustrated with both Rylee & Colton. The push and pull - he wants her, she resists, she gives in, he pushes her away, she lets him, he pursues her, she resists, she gives in, she runs away, she comes back, he resists, he gives in.... It drove me freaking crazy! Colton’s and Rylee’s story move along a break-neck speed but come to a crashing halt with a cliff-hanger ending. I recommend you continue with the next book Fueled when Audible releases it.
"Whole series is way too long and overly drawn out!"
Each book was approximately 14 hrs but the whole series of 3 books should have been 14 hrs total. I know the series has gotten good reviews but was way too long and drawn out, to the point of being boring. Probably 75% was just about back and forth talking about nothing except we can be together or we can't be together and Rylee whining about loving Colt and not being worthy and rest was about having sex or talking about it. Only 25% was probably worthy storyline. Gosh I just got totally bored midway through the first book so I started skipping forward through it and the next two books. So even if not totally horrible, I can't really recommend unless they had reduced each book to 6 or 7 hrs. It was just too long with mostly meaningless storyline. This review would apply to all three books in the series.
These are a few things I like about the story:
1) Great sex
2) Interesting storyline
3) GREAT one liners
Cons you ask? Well lets see.
1) KB repeats thoughts over and over throughout all three books
2) You can't just buy one book bcs all three are one story
3) STRESSFULL storyline for books 2 and 3. So much so that it overshadows the love story. Instead of enjoying it, I found myself uptight and stressed. Although not book one
4) heroine is very weak in that in book one she keeps trying to make excuses to see him when it's all weak ones and all it boils down to is that she wants him and will do anything to crawl back into his life. But again, don't worry my friends, this IS a romance and at the end all will workout.
Book 2 was all about her being mad at him and him trying to get her back and terrible interactions.
Book 3... He finally starts to workout through his messed up head and things finally start to workout but then we have a couple of accidents and healing to go through before the happily ever after. Still very stressful.
So overall if I had the choice between 50 shades and this I'll go with 50 even though it was poorly written at least the story kept me interested and excited and full of love.
I also did not like the narrator changes in books 2 and 3. It throws off the reader in the sense that you have to readjust over and over when voices are not what you are used to so it makes it hard to really get into the book. This is not to say I did not like the male narrator, just that I prefer either all male or all female to allow for emersion into the story.
So make up your own mind but this is not the kind of book I would ever want to re-read.
"LOVE THIS SERIES!!!"
I didn't read the print version, but I love the audio version. Some of the other reviews said they didn't like Tatiana Sokolov voice, I thought it was perfect. She did a great job with the different characters voices too! I have returned audio books because of some of the other narrators voices, but Tatiana's was very fitting and perfect for this series.
The whole book was a memorable moment!
I have not, but will listen to more of her narrations she does a GREAT job!
Definitely worth a credit!!!
I loved the characters...Loved their need for each other...loved that they both had pasts they had to get past...can't wait to listen to #2
When Colton drove the boys to school to prove the bullies wrong...what a sweetheart
"Awesome story, but narrator ruined it for me."
I LOVE this story and this author, and purchased the audio version because the story is so good. However this narrator just ruined the entire story for me. She spoke too fast most of the time, had very little emotion for the Rylee character, and her male voice, or at least her Colton voice, was a major turn-off. He just sounded sleazy.
I really hope there is a different narrator for Fueled, which is the next book in the 3 book series. Someone who can do a decent male voice and puts more feeling into the characters.
"Poor narrating choice"
I will probably not listen again due to the awful narration.
Sexy Colton with the dirty mouth.
I felt the narrator didn't read the book beforehand therefore could not bring the proper depth of and feeling to the story. Her male voices were juvenile and sounded like cartoon characters. I felt her tone and inflection were totally off for most of the story. I stopped listening during the first chapter because it was SO off but eventually pushed through just because I loved this book so much.
I hope against all hope that a different narrator will be doing the next book "Fueled" Grace Grant would be a great choice. Sebastian York's sexy as sin voice would be perfect for Colton's POV.
I purchased two books due to high ratings and was disappointed. This was one. I turned it off after 10 minutes of ridiculous kissing silliness. "Oh, oh!" Later with nothing else downloaded, I finished it. Sigh. Wished I hadn't wasted my time. Foster home part was good, but the rest was juvenile. Was this supposed to be for teens? Cannot believe that adults would give it such high ratings. This is the second time this month that my fellow readers/listeners have failed me by giving a ridiculous book a high rating. How could you?! I trusted you! If this drivel gets such high ratings, maybe I should write a book.
"I would have given this a 4 but...."
Where do I start? Yes, I agree with other reviews that this was a version of 50 Shades. I'm going to start with the character I hated the most, Rylee. She is too needy and over thinks everything. It was annoying. I don't know if they even went on a date before she wants more of Colton. Haddie told her to just enjoy the moment and see what happens. When Rylee speaks she seems like a different person than what plays in her head. Colton showed her so many times that yes he had issues but he really liked her. Rylee had no self esteem. When she stood up to Colton in the club, I was like you go girl. Then, she over thinks things and ruins the moments. She made me sick, and the lady on the audiobooks voice perpetuated Rylee's needed disposition. I wanted Rylee to be stronger and more assertive. Her character had potential to be stronger, but the author choice to make her insecurities overpower the development of this character. If Rylee was a stronger character, I would have given this book 4 stars.
"Well worth listening to."
Oh very definitely! The story is very well written, the characters believable and very well narrated.
When Colton met Zander.
Rilee definitely as she brought such a depth of feeling and love to the character.
Love, passion, tenderness and insight into the human psyche!
Loved it and bought the following two books. Could not put them down!! Brilliant please, please hurry with more!!
"rollercoasters of story"
love this book story, so good you just get so drawn into the characters and were the story is going so cant wait for next two book to come.
50 shades of gray, bared to you, this man,
Brilliant story with real emotions. I love Kristy Bromberg's books and gave them all and Noe venturing into audio
This is the first book in the Driven trilogy and unfortunately the other parts are not available as an audiobook yet; but the kindle versions are.
The performance is excellent and it makes for addictive listening. If you like angst with your romance then you'll love this. It's the usual story of broken girl meets broken boy and they are drawn to each other with amazing chemistry. It's very well written and I can't wait to read the next book. It ends on a cliffhanger.
"Yeah, not full of racing.."
I enjoyed the narration, so that was great. Always a plus!!
The chemistry straight away between Colton and Rylee is electric, may be because he is a knight in shining armour, or he is just hot as all hell, but kissy face happens and as it happens this quick in real life, I have no problem with it happening this quick in book life either, especially when in a short space of time, the nappy hits the fan and Colton has his work cut out even getting a nice word out of her lips nevermind a repeat kiss.
Their paths however are set to collide and Colton and Rylee are hotter together than the tyres on his car after a spin around his racetrack. He isn't just a player, he has a troubled past and the way he is with Rylee's boys... well omg, i just about melted.
There were times when i wanted to roll my eyes at both characters, or speed it up a little, but things very quickly pulled back, I enjoyed the story, got involved with the characters and their connection and really hated Tawny. When I hate, and am invested, this is good.....so yes, I am looking forward to the next!
I did think it was going to be full of races, her waiting pensive by the side. It wasn't so I was happy about that. Don't mind some, but not 80%.
The ending. I love an ending like this, wam, bam thank you and ??? what? Yes! Leave me there ? Seriously? shovemeoffthatcliffytastic!!
