For most, a plane crash means the end of life. For Dusti Dawson, it's just the beginning...Dusti and her sister Batina survived the crash, thanks to a couple of brothers who are equal parts menacing and muscled. She'd be grateful...if they hadn't turned out to be delusional kidnappers, who believe Dusti's grandfather is some monstrous halfbreed creature bent on murder. Turns out Vampires, Lycans, and Gargoyles do exist - and they've been crossbreeding to form two hybrid races. Drantos, the man Dusti can't stop lusting after, is one of the most dangerous of all.
VampLycans Drantos and Kraven were sent to eliminate a threat to their clan. But when that threat turns out to be mostly human women, clueless of their lineage, plans change - especially after Drantos gets a taste of Dusti's blood. Now, he'll die to protect her. Even if that means walking away from everything he knows to keep her at his side.
Is her strong desire for Drantos reason enough to endure danger coming from all sides? Or should Dusti cut and run the first chance she gets?
Author Note: VLG stands for Vampires, Lycans, Gargoyles...and breeds in between. Living in Alaska's harsh, pristine territories, these creatures live and love fiercely. These are their stories.

"I LOVE THIS FREAKING BOOK!!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾"
This book was full of hotness, lust, action and Alpha Males. I could not not stop listening even for Sunday football. This is a great listen. I guarantee in the first 10 min you will fall in love with these characters. Dusti is very mouthy but it's effective. I still wanted to gag her a couple of times while I would jump Drontos bones seven times a week and twice on Sunday. I hope book two is just as good. GET THIS BOOK.
Ms. Dohner's always an automatic download for me, I love her books just that much! This one falls squarely in the middle range for me, I just felt that Dusty was such a whiny b-word and I never warmed to her at all! Still the writing of Dohner and the narration by Savannah Richards make this audiobook a buy, just don't expect to fall in love with Dusty!
"Boring boring boring"
This book just repeats itself over and over. I was bored after the first chapter but tried to stay with it. Nothing has changed by chapter 14. I'm going to return it.
"So, so bad, in a very bad way!"
My first complaint is the narrator's voice: the dramatic tone is over the top; her voice sounds so strained, as if she's on the verge of tears. Next, the story itself (or as much of it as I forced myself to endure, before abandoning it entirely), was not to my liking. It took a mere few minutes for me to roll my eyes at the super cheesy scenario unfolding: two sisters on a plane that is in the midst of crashing.
Two beefcakes -- complete strangers -- appear before the sisters, each mysterious guardian taking an intrusive and uninvited -- albeit protective -- position before each sister. How convenient that, amid a plane full of passengers, only these two damsels in distress warrant the protection of the only two crash-proof dudes on the plane. As if all of this is not ludicrous enough (even by paranormal romance standards), as these strangers are forcing themselves between the legs of these two women...as the plane is going down...one of the women actually wonders if they are being mugged...AS THE PLANE IS GOING DOWN. Seriously? You are in the middle of a plane crashing, and a big man inexplicably insinuates himself between your legs, and your first thought is that he's mugging you??? I mean, I get it, it's not like his real intentions are easily inferred at this stage, but a mugging???
So, that is about six minutes in, and I couldn't go any further. Admittedly, my rating may be unfair, as it doesn't encompass the entire novel; however, it accurately reflects my opinion of the first six minutes, and I really cannot reasonably assume that the rest of the novel might contain anything that would reverse my opinion. Actually, I conjecture that the most this novel might have to offer is some great sex scenes, but a substantive plot? Doubtful.
(cringe) I don't know.
Despite my complaints about the narrator, I really don't think the best narrator in the world could redeem this story.
"I don't speak GROWL!"
I love Laurann Dohner's 'New Species Series' and her new 'LVG Series' doesn't disappoint.
The first sentence grabs you and doesn't let go until the end. Laurann has created a very sexy alpha male species with the VampLycan's and VampGargoyles. There's a lot of history to absorb with the VLG's but it's spread out thru the book so it's not so over whelming.
I fell for these VLG's right away along with Dusti and Bat. This book is funny, has suspense, action, and of course some hot sex.
The book starts out with all four: Drantos and Dusti; Kraven and Bat. After a few chapters they split up and this book focuses on Drantos and Dusti with mentions of Kraven and Bat.
If you're a fan of Laurann Dohner or a fan of paranormal romance you'll love the VLG series.
Savannah Richards give an all consuming performance.
Worth a credit...YES, YES, YES.
The is the start of a new series and I so loved . The thing I like about LD books are her characters are so individual and unique. This book is a stronge foundation for the rest of the books.
"Narration the best part! Don't auto buy 2nd book!"
I am LD number one fan I have read cyborgs, too species, too mates etc. This book was a hell no. I am kind of mad some gave it four or five stars, first the story is about two sisters who are in a plane when it goes down then these big men wraps themselves around the women and then save them because of course their pretty much immortal. Finally the women are split up one in one direction and they never see each other again in the whole story. His family doesn't like her and they repeat the scenes so much you start to hate it. Not giving anything away but not much of a story. The girl don't understand his ways and he is taken from her, then she's kidnapped and then found then traded for her sister and then returned back to her mate. Who's family pretty much hates her because she can't shift and probably can't breed. The only thing she did good was convince a stranger that the hellbeast mad mainge. It's stupid and shouldn't be worthy of LD name.
Yes! Don't auto buy, if this is the first book then I don't want to read the second one. I mean really this man is suppose to control her fowl mouth, balls to the wall woman by telling her to shut up and she does..and then shes not herself.
Savannah didn't have much to work with since not to many emotions played out in this story.
As for a rewrite. How many times can you say lycan vamp? Or carry a woman around who passes out at the drop of a hat.
Disappointed. I may return it. And I check for a LD book once a month. This sucked bad.
After reading the New Species and Mating Heat series, i was so looking forward to this series. I'm such a big fan of Laurann Dohner, but this one wasn't her best work. Story was predictable and a little slow. The story just never seems to pick up. Also, lead male character sounds just like Grady from the Mating Heat series. Not my favorite.
"Erotic, action packed paranormal drama series"
All the humans characters in these stories are anglo, along with the vampire, lycon & gargoyle characters seemed to be also.. BUT, the writing is well done. The drama is engaging & the action, thrilling. The voice actor is also wonderful... I was amazed on how Laurann Dohner entwined the 3 species of paranormal creatures & the hierarchy between them. And how & why humans are seen.. I gave it 4 stars because the story IS entertaining & worth a credit.. BUT... My pet peeve is.... there is NO mention of any asian, black, latino or EVEN NATIVE indigenous Alaskan characters in this story set in Alaska. NONE.. NO mention of any supporting background character of color... No co workers, friends or passer-by that happen to be black/asian/native or latino . Perhaps the vision of an isolated anglo world with paranormal creatures is more palatable than a global world with people with different skin tones, ethnic backgrounds & sexual preferences...
BUT, the story is very entertaining & sex scenes are sensual.. This IS a good story despite the lack of racial diversity. But finding stories with the" whole packet" are extremely rare. This is definitely worth the credit & money! L.. Dohnner is a talented writer & I will follow the series next book.
"So glad I found this series!"
Wow! This is great. New twist on romance. I love Savannah Richards narration. She's spot on! I don't write reviews that give away the story but I can tell you this is great if you like new species. You got to love these characters and the adventures they go on. Would I recommend this book, well, YES! lol
