Daughter of Time is appropriate for listeners from young teens to adults and is a prequel to the After Cilmeri series: A medieval man with an uncertain destiny, Llywelyn, the Prince of Wales, faces treachery and deceit at the hands of friends and foes alike... A modern woman with a troubled past, Meg's life is in tatters when she slips through time and into medieval Wales... Only by working together can Meg and Llywelyn navigate the shifting allegiances that threaten the very existence of Wales - and create their own history that defies the laws of time.
A note from the author: I am so happy to be able to share with you this prequel to the After Cilmeri series. I created Footsteps in Time and Prince of Time first, and only wrote Daughter of Time after so many listeners wanted to know how the story began. Meg's journey is continued in Footsteps in Time and Winds of Time, a novella that is meant to be a companion to the series. Happy listening!

After being recommended as a good book to read during Droughtlander, however I was bored and disinterested due to the repetition and lack of skilled authorship.
Poor quality of storytelling, with gaps in the details, kept me wondering too often, and lacked variety during conversations.
She didn't keep my interest, lacked expression and variety in character voices.
Not recommended for anyone who loved the Outlander series, pales by comparison.
Story is ordinary, narration is awful. The author misses the chance to describe emotions and glosses over events way too quickly. I also felt the language used was a bit too modern for the period it is set in. A bit of fluff and minimal substance.
At first I wanted to return this book. The welsh accent was so bad it offended me. The storyline however kept me going and I'm glad I persevered
"A Welsh-fluent reader makes the difference"
I have read and reread this book as an ebook. I enjoy the story thoroughly!
What I was not expecting from the audio book is that the performer's correct pronunciation of Welsh names and use of a Welsh accent for Welsh characters made the book come alive in a new way for me.
I highly recommend this book to other lovers of both fantasy and historical fiction!
"Pleasantly Surprised. Better Than I Expected !"
I really liked this story way more than I thought I would. It’s labeled a “prequel”, but if you haven’t read/listened to any of the “After Cilmeri” series, you’re in luck, as its even better to start here.
The story of Meg and Prince Llywelyn is well crafted, often deep, often humorous and a good romp. Don’t let all the history throw you, just go with it. Knowing the exact historical events is not necessary to follow the plot and enjoy the book. Each character becomes more and more interesting as the story goes on. And yes, the first person narrative switches between Meg and Prince Llywelyn, but you get used to that quite quickly and it just plain works. I found the narration a bit fast paced in the beginning, but gets easier to understand after a couple of chapters in.
I’ll give you another little hint: When you get to the end of this book and long for the story to continue, no worries, as the next book, “Footsteps in Time” is even better! The narration on that audiobook is smoother paced. Go ahead and treat yourself, this series is a pleasant surprise.
Loved the history and the accents the narrator used. Off to the next book in the series!
loved it, looking forward to the next book, very happy to have started this series
I enjoyed this book very much, it was the first I had read by this author, now I look forward to reading some of her other books.
"Another great read"
Wow another great book by a fantastic author. You make the story come alive and I'm addicted to audible now. I really love listening to someone read to me. I get a great appreciation of what is going on and a great understanding of the different languages. Love this story and can't wait for the next.
I loved it! Can't wait to find out where the story goes! Great narration also!
"Love first book in the series"
I read the first book a few times and can't wait to listen to the next book in the series, Footsteps in Time.
"Loved the Story"
Loved the story, first time I've read this author, hoping this is book one.
I have listened to Davina Porter, I rate everyone against her, I love her style. I wasn't really thrilled with this narration, but better than some I've heard.
Thank you for the book!
I'd listen to this audio book again because it's the foundation of Ms. Woodbury's series. It's fascinating to live in the medieval world the author creates for us.
This is my first read in this time period, and I'm loving it.
In the audio, there is a little extra breath in the English-accented sentences that is mildly disruptive. It's not there in the Welsh dialect, which is wonderfully narrated.
The author's world is so unique and interesting. I'm on the third book and can't stop!
"I really wanted to like it but....."
I couldn't! The story was unrealistic, almost childlike and lacked depth to the characters, which made it boring. Having paid for it, I followed the superficial characters through to the end but I felt like it was endured rather than enjoyed. I listened to the audio book an the reader insisted on attempting the Welsh accent, which was so awful it distracted from the already thin story and made it even less believable. The very fake accent was a cross between Irish and Scottish with an American undertone. If this had been included in the sample I would never have purchased the book, that's for sure! I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but this was pretty terrible I'm sorry to say. a little more research & character development would go a long way to improving a promising idea
"The book is great"
However the narration is more Scots than Welsh I thought it was just me till I let my friends and daughters hear it and they all said I thought it was supposed to be Welsh did they set it in Scotland
