He woke deep within the ground, and the first sensation he felt was hunger. An overwhelming hunger for blood that demanded satisfaction. But as he hunted the dark streets of Paris for prey, a voice called to him, soothing, calming, giving him the strength to control his craving.
Francesca Del Ponce was a healer, a woman who radiated goodness as powerfully as the sun did light. But surely his obsession with her would turn him as his twin brother had turned, leaving the world with two monsters instead of one.

The narrator for this novel completely ruined the story for me. It was atrocious!!!! I've heard him read many stories, but never as poorly as this one. It left me feeling let down and I just couldn't get into the novel as I usually can. I felt distracted by the narration. Maybe he had a cold? I returned the book to Audible, it was so bad! I've not done that before!
"good story bad narration"
the story was great. the readers need to get together so everyone says the name right. it makes it very distracting when they are miss pronounced
"Great story, annoying narrator"
His nasal and over excited voice was grating and his consistent massacring of the name Lucian and Gregori was very annoying and distracting.
"Ugh! Bad name pronunciation."
I think it would be great to check on how the names should be pronounced. This isn't the first book in the series that ends up pronouncing names differently than other books in the series. I wonder if anyone though to ask the author how to pronounce the names. Consistency would be nice.
The way he pronounced the names. Very distracting.
The performance was very distracting. I won't recommend it to my friends.
"wow wow!!! another hit"
i think i can't think now!!! I'm not sure about this review, I'm still enthralled!!!
Over all this book kept me interested all the way to the end I even wanted to here more . Narrator was on target for you
"Worst Narration ever heard in a Romance Book!"
The storyline was great! Whoever chose this narrator should be fired.
The continuation of the story plots are good.
Disappointment. The narration was SO bad, I could hardly stand to finish the book.
Whoever thought Mr. Lawlor could be the voice of a romantic Carpathian, (one of the strongest of the characters to date), has chosen badly. No changes in tone or voice to differentiate the characters but worse, NO SEX APPEAL WHAT-SO-EVER!
Difficult in distinguishing between between between which character he was talking in at times. He didn't change voice very much for characters.
Typical dark series... Love the stories and the series. Love the narrator, for once....Keep him!
Greater love hath no Carpathian than to extend his life for his twin. This was a true tale of love, sacrifice, hardship, compassion and the blessing of a light at the end of a very long, dark, painful tunnel. Extremely well written.
