“Not much sense in the noodle”

This is a very interesting story with dark themes continuing on from Book 1 of the aptly named Dangerous series. The storyline is well-devised although I can’t say there were many characters whom I found likeable (as those that weren’t rotten eggs had characteristics I found annoying).

Melissa is incredibly gullible with a warped rationale undoubtedly shaped from her dreadful upbringing and filial influences. By some amazing chance she finds herself saved from ruination by Nicholas who, despite his ‘famed temper’, treats her with patience and gentleness.

Pity that Melissa finds it difficult to accept Nick’s decisions, as her defiance, lack of honesty and poor decision-making constantly lands her in several precarious situations. She has more lives than a cat and never seems to fully grasp how lucky she is to escape or be rescued from an even worse fate.

Nick is all that an HR hero should be, and with the patience of a saint. Melissa does eventually gather her senses and love prevails - thank goodness or I would’ve really disliked this book.

I do recommend this audiobook and suggest that listeners persist to the end as it is worth it.

Although I find Charley’s man-hating dialogue tedious, I am most curious to listen to her story next.
