The first novel in New York Times best-selling author Cynthia Eden's sizzling LOST series introduces the Last Option Search Team, an elite unit that must protect the only surviving victim of a serial killer.
Ex-SEAL and LOST founder Gabe Spencer is accustomed to the unusual in his job. But when knockout Eve Gray steps into his office, he's rattled. For the mysterious woman is a dead ringer for the heiress thought to be the latest prey of the serial killer who goes by the name Lady Killer.
When Eve awoke in an Atlanta hospital, her past was a blank slate. Then she recognized her own face in the newspaper and vowed to learn the truth. Determined to confront the nightmares hidden in her mind, she never expects to find a partner in Gabe.
As Gabe and Eve work together, their explosive attraction becomes irresistible. Gabe knows that his desire for Eve is growing too strong, bordering on a dangerous obsession, but nothing pulls him away from her. And when another Eve lookalike disappears, Gabe vows to protect Eve at all costs. While Eve may have forgotten the killer in her past, it's clear he hasn't forgotten her.

Wow! What an amazing Prologue.
There were many suspects in this book, there was just no way to figure anything out. I absolutely love Cynthia Eden’s books. The chemistry between Gabe and Eve/Jessica was just so thrilling. Whew! And there was really great sex to be had.
The suspects were innocent sounding one minute and guilty as hell sounding the next: Trey? Pierce? Clay? Johnny? Who dunnit? What a super murder mystery.
And I loved Gage’s team: Wade, Dean, Victoria and Sarah. I think the next book is about Dean and I have every intention of reading it.
I was real sorry about Pauley. He was such a sweetheart and so nice to Eve/Jessica when she was living at the homeless shelter.
I had an idea who the killer was but I wasn’t certain. And I was right. However, I really didn’t *think* I knew until about 85% so that wasn’t figuring it out right off the bat.
I do recommend this book to all readers who like murder and romance in one book.
As to the narrator: She did a great job with the voices but she does kinda have a "bedroom" voice of her own. So, you decide if you want to listen to her.
"Love, love love this one!"
Cynthia Eden knows how to write romantic suspense! Better yet, smart and strong female characters. I get so frustrated with writers who make their main female leads dumb as bricks - doing stupid things just to advance the plot. This book has it all, creepy, scary bad guy, strong, sexy good guy and very smart, believable female lead!! I haven't even finished listening and I just gotta say - it's great!! Also, very very good narration!
I love Cynthia Eden and so excited to start this series. This book has me guessing who the killer was until the end and still guessed wrong. Eve kept me guessing until the end. Eve and Gabe are so awesome together!! Can't wait to start Twisted book 2
"Narrator either whispers or yells. Horrible."
I wish I could have heard this book. The narrator either whispers or yells. Narrators are supposed to READ the material in an AUDIBLE way. Whispers are not audible. Narrator needs to find another job.
From what I could actually hear, this is a great story. I'll buy a printed copy that I may discern the WORDS.
"Lost His Mind"
Eve may have lost her memory but Gabe lost his mind the first moment he saw her and not in a good way. Lust at first sight does not equate to true love.
I thought the characters seemed one dimensional and the "identity" of the killer too easy to guess. Might be entertaining for teens or young adults.
Doubtful. I have read earlier books by Eden and they were ok. This one, not at all.
This book was incredibly lame. I don't look for realism in romance necessarily but this one....seriously? This woman was held by a serial killer for who knows how long. When she escaped she was in the hospital with amnesia, numerous injuries, etc. So she comes out and hooks up with the guy in charge of Lost. They jump into bed almost immediately. So ridiculous. Even if she was deluded enough to think that was a good idea, he couldn't resist it and give her time to heal? I am so over books that think everyone wants to jump into sex immediately.
No character development AT ALL. The male lead apparently has a boatload of money and had a family tragedy in that his sister is killed by a serial killer. NO DETAILS no explanation about anything It was so thin you could see through it. Do not waste your money or credits on this.
"Keeps you wondering"
This book was filled with suspense. Never a dull moment. Would recommend and will read Twisted.
This is the best story I've listened too by far, well worth the credit
It has a hero, a serial killer and a damsel in distress:-)
"Had me to the very end"
I enjoyed this start to finish. Great characters, great story, enough love story and lots of mystery. Builds to a crescendo. Exciting. Couldn't put it down. Narrator can make or break a book no matter how good the story is. This one was fantastic. Her voice did not distract from the story but enhanced it greatly. I'm not only going to look for more books by this author but I'm looking for other books this narrator has read.
loved it. recommended. finished it in 2 days. on to the next in the series.
"Could be a lot better"
I’m a great fan of Cynthia Eden but this one was a disappointment.
The plot moved painfully slow and for every paragraph progressing the storyline we had pages of the main characters analysing their lustful feelings. The Hero was so overly possessive and aggressive toward anyone showing interest in the heroine that I though his character was better suited to being the serial killer. At one stage he even beat up a suspect who was in handcuffs. Meanwhile the h was unappealing. As an amnesia victim it was difficult for the reader to get to know her, and every hint given about her past made her seem like a mentally unstable and promiscuous spoiled rich girl. It seemed she was more interested in having sex than actually finding out who she really was and I thought wanting sex a few hours after the murder of her only friend was just poor taste. And after visiting the burial site of several murder victims she declared she wanted go drinking and dancing? Hardly endearing. The romance in this book was non existent. This was just insta-lust and nothing else. The two central characters rarely talked or spend time together that didn’t involve having sex or thinking about having sex or almost having sex.
The book contains huge plot holes. The heroine was a dead ringer for a missing socialite who was presumed murdered by a high profile serial killer, and the FBI are still actively investigating. However police trying to find the h's true identity, dismiss this connection because that woman went missing in another state! What! They cannot even make a long distance phone call? E-mail a photo? Then we find that on a small island community, 20 young blonde woman had gone missing over ten years and nobody noticed? I grew up in a small town when one girl went missing, and it was still being talked about 20 years later!
I also found the obvious setting up of future books in the series a bit distracting. Constant reference to other characters and their assorted “issues” was disconcerting and switching to their POV was unnecessary and an obvious attempt to get the reader to buy the follow up books. Meanwhile we barely get to know the lead characters. Lots of vague references to the H's issues and past troubles, lots of hints about the background of the h, but nothing solid to get the reader caring about them both.
This book was so promising and could have been really good. Take away the endless (and mainly pointless) internal musing of all the characters, get rid of the time spend setting up future books, a bit of tweaking and this book would be half the length and twice as good. As it is, I will not be buying the next in the series. Too much sex without love, and not enough storyline and character development.
