The Wilderness Years are over. But not for long. At the end of Bridget Jones's Diary, Bridget hiccuped off into the sunset with man-of-her-dreams Mark Darcy. Now, in The Edge of Reason, she discovers what it is like when you have the man of your dreams actually in your flat and he hasn't done the washing-up, not just the whole of this week, but ever.
Lurching through a morass of self-help-book theories and mad advice from Jude and Shazzer, struggling with a boyfriend-stealing ex-friend with thighs like a baby giraffe, an 8ft hole in the living-room wall, a mother obsessed with boiled-egg peelers, and a builder obsessed with large reservoir fish, Bridget embarks on a spiritual epiphany. Bridget is back. V.g. The third installment in Bridget Jones' journey, Mad About the Boy, is out in October 2013.

I was very disappointed. Couldn't listen to much of it. Don't bother with this, especially if you have seen and liked the movies. The movie is a thousand times better than the book which is very unusual
"To Die For"
Sucked me right in and couldn't pull away from my ears. Charming narrative and wonderful performance. Best of the bunch. Recommend without hesitation.
"Way better than the film version"
I was hesitant to read it since I had watched the movie first and it was a total flop, but I am so glad I did. I feel as though some of the events merged with events that were included in the first film, which may be why the film deviates so much from the book. Still, there were more suspenseful parts of the book which were sadly left out of the film. It goes without saying, the book was better than the movie.
Other than its predecessor, I'd have to compare the series to an adult version of Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries. Light-hearted, humorous romps.
I enjoyed the meat purse fiasco.
Mark Darcy...because I'd have to steal him away from Bridget, of course!
If you were a fan of the first book/movies, you'll enjoy it!
"Imogen Church is the best narrator!"
Need I say more?! She is absolutely fabulous! The story is fabulous! Listen to it as you will laugh and stop what you are doing to just sit, listen and visualise the characters in their roles doing all sorts of funny insane and (in some cases) ridiculously true things. This story is worth it!
I have read the other Bridget Jone's diaries, and hooted with laughter, but when this one started it was difficult to listen to, and so different from the others. I really wondered where it would go, and how. But what a beautiful culmination of the series. I laughed.. I cried (a lot), and in the end I was enormously satisfied.
"Audio performance was excellent"
After listening to a few books you really appreciate a great Narrative voice, Imogene was excellent!!!
"Fun, fun and fun"
I have always liked Bridget Jones ever since I first saw the first movie and read the first book. To me she is almost like an copy of me.
The reader is excellent and I love her voice. The only thing that I did not like was the fact that I did have some trouble hearing what was read when Bridget was supposed to be drunk. I know that it's a fact that it is sometimes hard to hear what drunk people are talking about but anyway.
This is good book for those who feel a little bit down and depressed cause it makes you smile and laugh.
I don't feel the desire to re-listen to a book very often, but I did with this one. I enjoyed Imogen's version of Helen. Delicious! I caught myself from time to time repeating out loud phrases. This audio book is like a quirky best friend! Enjoy!
"Edge of Reason: read every decade!"
I read this book when I was 28 but laughed even harder while listening to it at 42. Funny and witty with characters you'll enjoy following.
this book made me laugh out loud! running and laughing may make me look like a fool but it was worth it!
I loved the story but the narration made it really come to life. I adore Bridget jones and this book held up just as well with the first one. Helen fielding makes me laugh and cheer but above all, makes me realise I am not alone. Thanks Bridget.
"Bridget Jones at her finest - V.Good and V.funny"
near the very top, due to Imogen Church's narration talents.
its funny listening to her constant thought diahorrea of self obsession. the intimate self loathing is so a plenty you can't help laughing because it becomes comical what she double questions and obsesses about.
Bridget herself - especially the "oooohhhh god's", "uuurrrgggg's" and drunk bridget. Bridget is closely followed by Mark, Imogen sounds like Colin Firth playing Mark Darcy.
If had time to yes, loved listening to it, but just couldn't dedicate that much time in one go. If could have listening in one sitting would have been even better than how superb it was in pieces.
Am gutted that Imogen hasn't done the follow up in Mad about the boy. Nothing against the current actress who is doing the narration, its just having listening to the 1st 2 books one after the other, it would have been fab to have her voice continuing in the "flow and Zen".
Imogen is an outstanding voice performer and am looking forward to listening to more of her books in the future
I really love this book, it was a great sequel. I am really looking forward to listening to the next one.
"Struggled to finish"
I finally finished it and if felt as such a chore. Lady Di part was especially a yawn. I admit that I skipped it just to finally finish the bloody thing, to move the things quicker. First book was ok, but the film was way better. In this one I think both book and the movie are mediocre, although they did change some stuff from the book and the movies. I prefer the original plot that was in the book.
"1st Audio Book = very pleased!"
Loved it. The narrator really captured the essence of Bridget Jones. Didn't want it to end.
"The perfect audiobook!"
Read this when first came out, but enjoyed audiobook even more. Now have to listen to rest of the 'Bridget' series! So enjoyed all the voices, the performance was brilliant.
"A light but funny read."
I chose this book because I had trouble sleeping and I needed to read something light and not too heavily engaging. This book is funny witty and the characters in it are a Little eccentric. Recommend this book for anybody who is seeking a light read whilst on holiday or needing to relax after work with something not too difficult to follow. I rated this book for out of five stars because some of the storyline doesn't change its course very much. Imogen The narrator is totally amazing at doing all the voices. I particularly like her voice for Magda, Mark, Rebecca, and Bridget's mum. They will surely make you laugh!
It was like having to leave a friend when it had finished, I am looking forward to listening to the next in the series.
Read the first one. Enjoyed listening to this sequel just as much as reading the first one. Loved Imogen Church's voice. She is an utterly charming Bridget Jones.
