Publisher's Summary

Van Diemen's Land, 1826. Bridget Crack, a desperate convict, flees the cruelty of her master into the impenetrable Tasmanian wilderness.

Saved from certain death by Matt Sheedy and his fellow bushrangers, her precarious existence among the volatile and murderous men is a different kind of hell. Hunted by soldiers, at the mercy of killers, and surrounded by roaring river and towering columns of rock, what will she have to do to survive?

Lacks a plot

I love history, particularly Tasmanian history. I love reading about the lives of the early settlers and convicts. I thought I’d love this book. A friend loved it. I felt that the characters and relationships were poorly developed and the book lacked even a basic plot. I kept reading thinking that there was something I must be missing; that there must be more to the book than I felt there was. I’m sorry not to be able to recommend Rachel Leary’s book.
