Traumatized by her past and struggling to move on from it, Sera has spent the past three years of college hiding herself from the world and content to stay that way. A chance encounter with Liam shatters her sheltered world, leaving her stunned and shaken by the strange feelings and emotions he arouses in her, feelings she never thought she would experience and that frighten her in their intensity.
Harboring a dark and deadly secret of his own, Liam knows that he should stay away from Sera, that he will only bring her more hurt, but he is irresistibly drawn to her and unable to deny himself the pleasure that only she can bring to him. But when their pasts collide with their present, and Liam's true nature is revealed, will their love for each other be enough, or will they be torn apart forever?

It has a good vampire romance in it that doesn't feel like it is rushed and manages to continue the story without it feeling sectioned.
It is slightly like Twilight but these days its hard to find something that doesn't relate to it, but it is good vampire story that also has a slight touch of the Vampire Diaries books in regard to the vampires in the books
"My first audio book did not disappoint!!"
I downloaded this book to listen to it in my car during rush hour traffic on mornings and evenings. I very soon found myself addicted to it. The narrator is amazing and does an excellent job at telling the story. I will look for her again in other books. I loved the story line as I am particularly partial to vampires. I did find however that the heroine Sarah was a bit too weak at times and one or two parts of the plot dragged. However I still thoroughly enjoyed the story overall and I have already downloaded Book 2 of this series. I am very pleased with the Audible app and I think this has now become a must-have item for terrible traffic woes.
"Surprise! This was a good story."
Now, this book really surprised me. I thought it was going to be just as the rest of the Vampire books. But, it was good. This could be due to Tavia Gilbert. She is really good. But, I think it was a combination of Ms. Gilbert and Brenda K Davies. Great job. Oh, just get the book and you will see.
"Angsty Clueless Fratboy Vampires"
Sexy frat boy meets closed off college gal. This book has over 3,000 reviews on Amazon most are five and four star ones. Well the narration is five star, and the story is a one star as it has no world building and throws everything plus the kitchen sink into the plot, attempted rape and that isn't even the vampire plot. It as if the author was writing a new adult college romance and then decided to make the hero a vampire. The at the end of the books the newly graduated vampires go off to live in Oregon, who don't have a life plan, but supposedly can live out in rural Oregon, without jobs or money. Plus education no longer matter after the transformation. Hmmm... no life plan for immortals. LMAO! The author mentions hunters and never expands on it.
If you suspend disbelief and want to kill a night give Tavia Gilbert's narration a whirl. She is fab.
"I listen to this over and over"
I loved the story and characters and Tavia Gilbert is one of my very favorite narrators
I loved Liam Sara Mike Kathleen.....I could go on with almost every character. They are funny, loving, faithful and entertaining
Yes, I've listened to all her audios by Jeanine Frost. This is incredible, just like those audios
When Sara decides her love over rides everything else and she knows she will love Liam despite everything else
I am waiting for the audio for the 4th book. Gilbert does such a great job I really want the audio, although I'm considering getting the book first and then then audio. Please get the audio out!!!!!
"WASN'T A BOOK I WOULD READ AGAIN"
I desperately tried to like this book. Even my favorite narrator couldn't make this book enjoyable. The author tried to make the characters enjoyable but instead all of them were either annoying or extremely superficial. I don’t remember being that naive and gullible in college. The main heroine is extremely passive. She lets everyone, including her so called best friend, push her around and make decisions for her. She doesn't have an independent bone in her frail body. And if I was to hear the statement, “she look at them with her haughty expression” one more time during this story, I think I would have screamed. The hero was sad. I felt no depth from him at all. Even the side characters couldn't make me like this book.
This book has a lot of similarities with the Twilight Series. A lonely girl falls in love with gorgeous hot guy. Gorgeous hot is irresistible drawn to lonely girl. A gorgeous guy turns out to be a vampire and lonely girl doesn't care even if it means her life might be in danger. The only difference is that this book contains more detailed (and I do mean detailed) smex scenes. I wasn’t engaged while reading this book at all. Usually I can finish an audible book within a day; this book took me about two weeks.
I love Tavia Gilbert, as I have stated she is my favorite narrator but not even her brilliance at making a story come to life could save this book from being the bore that it was.
IMO, this book is a no for me.
Couldnt even make it 5 minutes into this book, the narrator talks x2 of any normal person and its difficult to keep on.
"Oh. No. Don't"
This woman is GOD awful. I wanted to rip
my ears off and set them off an set them on fire.
"Trite and predictable"
No, I don't think so.
Try not to make a sexier version of The Twilight Saga - this lacks every bit of magic and suspense that Twilight has....
She was probably true to the characters - but the girls are SO annoying and, well GIRLY in a way that makes my skin crawl....
Didn't finish the book - i couldn't stand to listen to it all the way through. So I can't say - but it is trite and boring from page one, sorry to say.....don't think any editing could have made it remotely readable....
Don't Waste a credit on this.
"Different than other vampire books..."
But not very interesting. I listened to the whole book which was a challenge. I found that I did not care much for the main character, her decisions to stay were frustrating. I love the reader, and I only downloaded this book since Tavia Gilbert was the audible reader. The book is not detailed with rich descriptions, the main antagonist arrives with little description of why she was there, what she wanted. The only interesting fact about the main character was her name. The whole book seemed choppy, and unpolished.
If you can over look the twilight similarities it is a great book. Kind of easy to tell what's going to happen next, but still, i liked it,
"Love vampires but not a fan of this..... Like twilight but more sex I guess"
Well I must say I got this thinking I would like it as I've listened to other vampire books with this notator, but I was let down. I'm not sure what I disliked the most I guess it was the story and the characters they all seem "whiney".
I the characters are all American college age and well act it not sure what I expected but I tried to give this book the full chance of listening to it all but was still left unhappy so thank goodness I was able to get my credit back with the audible guarantee.
No, not my cup of tea. Boring and didn't grip me.
Can't even remember.
All of it.
took a while to get into it.. bit childish.. end reminded me of Twilight. overall not bad. will buy book two
Absolutely loved it. The narrator is a brilliant asset to bringing the story to life.
