"Loved listening to this - But....."
Just finished this one and was looking for the 2nd book in this series, At Any Turn. However, I was disappointed that it is not available on Audible. The 3rd book in this series is available on here. What the Heck???
Defiantly in the top 5. But that is ONLY because my absolute favorite audiobook series has four books released so far. If I am ranking this as a series then it is with out a doubt my #2!
Too many to list, but my personal favorites are The Crossfire series, The Needing Moore Series, the Fixed Trilogy, The Pearl series, I could go on and on....
I would have to say Mia, but Kristen did an excellent job with all of the characters.
I listen to a lot of audiobooks, if fact I am kind of obsessed with them, I will read a book, if I like it then I will order the audiobook and listen while reading the book over and over again. Most of the time it take me a little while to get the narrators voice wrapped around the characters I have pictured in my head, not this time. Kristen did an amazing job right from the beginning bringing all of these characters to life for me. This is truly one of my most favorite series to read and Kristen did not disappoint, in fact, she made it even more perfect.
What an awesome book, good storyline with a modern day background. I enjoyed the characters. Steamy hot scenes and just the rifht amount of drama.
Narration was great capturing the characters perfectly. Definate 'must listen' rack.
"Really good introduction to another Great trylogy"
yes, it was fun and fast paced.....good read.
the pace, it moved along and was never boring.
No, but I'm starting book two now....
Possibly if I needed to listen to something that I didn't already read or listen to.
Easy love. Because of the friendships.
No. This was a new for the narrator and author
It was a great listen/read. I ended up purchasing the book so I could also read it if I was not able to listen.
Great book. Looking forward to reading/listens to more from the author/narrator.
"Wow! Just Wow!"
OMG. I hardly know what to say. Of all the hair brained, crazy ideas the main character, Amelia could have!? Oh, what a disaster this could have been. But, wow! It was a suck you in, snatching your attention kind of read. It was like being a fly on the wall. And, while yes Amelia had some rather ...different ideas, she made sense. Her argument had substance. It almost made me think of how well a paper like that would do in a rhetoric class.
What to say without giving away anything? Ok, the characters were great. I liked all of them. Fully developed living, breathing, characters. Ms. Aubrey has a way with words. Loved Beauman as well. Totally know some of those all man gay guys. People stereotype them so much. But, there are plenty of Beaumans out there.
I just loved this book. It was unconventional, witty, well done. Great story. It was a concept that was masterfully crafted to deliver an amazing reading/listening experience.
And, let's not forget the narrator. Wow! Kirsten Leigh does an AMAZINGLY job of making these characters, their story, their anguish, thoughts, feelings just real. She strapped you in the front row and takes you for a ride.
"Very good book!"
Very intense, emotional and honorable. The story begins with a young lady who is trying to save her mothers home and put herself through medical school. She is HONORING her mother by taking care of her bills and making sure Mom's stress level is calm so as to not cause a cancer relapse. The EMOTIONAL aspect of this book is expressed through the characters Mia and Adam who meet when he buys her virginity and they embark on a contractual agreement. Adam is a stand up guy despite the fact that he purchased Mia's virtue. He decides that he is going to befriend this girl and help her by saving her virtue and save her from herself. The relationship becomes INTENSE because Mia and Adam fight their feelings for each other.
Adam! He isn't out for sexual gratification. He is attracted to Mia but he puts her needs first.
The one where he and Mia make love for the first time. He swept her away to the carribbean to make it special.
When they confessed there love for each other. That is always awesome. He broke down her emotional walls and they developed a true friendship which is the way it should be. However the relationship was tough to get going because of Mia and her inability to accept that she was falling for him. She was just all about the contract and keeping to the rules of it.
I thought I could predict where the story was going but I was pleasantly surprised that I predicted wrong. I have read enough of this genre and the stories are similar subject matter however each story is still different. That is really quite amazing with as many authors out there!
"Love love loved it!"
Great story! Had me engrossed. It was so hard to stop listening. The narrator was very good. Definitely worth the credit!
I loved this book. I was hooked before the the first 10 minutes in finished. I just thought to warn you all that book 2 is a must. However some say it's predictable & it was but it will pull emotions on you. The gammet of them all. From other reviews I found I wasn't alone. Most might not finish book 2. I know this because I struggled with it my self. I encourage you all to get to book 3 which I am now starting because I had strong feelings about the main people. I am hoping beyond hope that I am truly wrong about my opinion of Mia before the end. I have only reviewed 5 times here and only do so when I feel that something needs to be said. Everyone has their trip switch book 2 flipped mine very powerfully. In all you can't do stand alone here. You really have to hear it all. So far book 1 was soooo good top 10 easy for the last 24 months. Book 2 got five stars from me only because I wanted to slap her, but that is for you to decide.
"Great story but it's a trilogy."
Yes I will likely listen again. I always feel a little ripped off when I only get a portion of the story for the price of the audible books. I'll likely purchase book 2 and 3 in an ebook format which is way more affordable.
Great character building and the story kept me engaged.
I enjoyed Mia's geeky character, and relate guarding to of the heart.
I'm not a gamer but really enjoyed that aspect of the story.
"Enjoyed it but resemblance to FSOG is uncanny!"
Very enjoyable romance novel however the resemblance in the plot, characters etc resembles fifty shades A LOT!
I will continue to read the series but I sincerely hope it branches away and stands on its own two feet from book 2 on...
I couldn't get into this book at all I haven't listened to all of it having fallen asleep whilst listening. I heard a few pages towards the end when I woke up and a prediction I made early on of how the plot was going to spin out was correct so I haven't bothered with the rest. The story wasn't very original and the reasons why the heroine needed to raise money were even more mundane. Is the desire to become a doctor meant to make us feel empathy with a character? This plot line is so old I think it is time for it to be put out to grass. Don't waste precious time on this book unless you are an insomniac.
An amazing book looking forward for the others. captivating story really good and exciting exceptional.
"4.5 well deserved stars"
Came by this gem of a book purely by accident. Such an unusual story. Loved it. Mia is beautiful, strong and knows her own mind, but is in dire need of finances. Adam is the nerdy, hot, sexy multi millionaire who bids to pay for her virginity. No real surprises, but a lovely story, well written. Both have pasts, both have issues, both need each other. What was meant to be one night together becomes so much more.
