Publisher's Summary

If your dream is big enough, not even your enemies can stop you....

Charlie Trumper's earliest memory is of hearing his grandfather's sales patter from behind his costermonger's barrow. When Grandpa Charlie dies, young Charlie wants nothing more than to follow in his footsteps - his burning ambition is to own a shop that will sell everything: 'The Biggest Barrow in the World'.

Charlie's progress from the teeming streets of Whitechapel to the elegance of Chelsea Terrace is only a few miles as the crow flies. But in Jeffrey Archer's expert hands it becomes an epic journey through the triumphs and disasters of the century, as Charlie follows a thread of love, ambition, and revenge to fulfil the dream his grandfather inspired.

    Story
    "EXACTLY what I wanted"

I was in the mood for a sweeping saga, and I knew Jeffery Archer was the perfect author to turn to. It was just the thing for my craving!

You have to know what you are signing up for when you settle into one of his books, there is very little dialogue and so I always feel like I am being told ABOUT a story as opposed to reading a story.. does that make sense?

Some constants about Jeffery Archer’s style:

    •Very little dialogue
    •More “telling” than “showing”
•Books that feel like a collection of short stories
    •Somewhat predictable plots
    •Many similarities to past books

But all this is good because if you know precisely what you’re going to get, you won’t be disappointed. I was entertained the entire way through!

"Twice as good the second time around"

I read this book years ago. It was a pleasure hearing it. Narrator John Lee really brought it to life. I've read most of Archer's books, this is one of his best. I promise you'll be hanging on to every word.

Why did this have to end? Such a good story, great characters and twists and turns.

    "Surprisingly gripping...."

Only 2nd Mr Archer book listened too, very impressed so far. This one could be a mini series, it all sounds dull, barrow boy does good, but it is a blinking good book, would recommend it.

    "Excellent Storytelling!"

Another top quality title from Mr Archer. Easy reading with enough of a plot to easily keep one's attention. John Lee exerts a real understanding of the characters and his accents are top notch.....a rarity in my opinion!

    "I couldn't stop listening!!"

I have never read or listened to a Jeffery Archer book before, not thinking I'd enjoy them. How wrong could a person be! The characters came to life as I knew they would with the enigmatic voice of John Lee. He is a master of story telling. The twists and turns of the storyline had me hooked. It was easy to listen to. Even though I knew the good guy would come out on top in the end, I listened with great enthusiasm as the story developed. Archer has now become a writer I'd like to explore further. An excellent book for a holiday read or when people just give you a few hours to sit, relax and listen👍

    "Sweet Story"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, a typical Archer story line. If you like Archer you will love this.

What was one of the most memorable moments of As the Crow Flies?

The ending is perfect. It is structured like most of Archer's novels. The storyline does overlap a little with a storyline from the Clifton chronicles which at first disappoints but the narrative does recover.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

    Again the ending.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Heart Warming.

    "Good Book."

I have just read this for the first time, I was introduced to Jeffrey Archer through the Clifton Chronicles which was an amazing series and left me wanting to listen to more Jeffrey Archer.

This was a good standalone book which I really enjoyed, the characters were well developed and incredible for a single book.

The narrator was phenomenal and made the story come to life.

My only slight gripe was that they referred to Football as Soccer throughout and it would of had 5 for the story if there was not so many similarities to the Clifton Chronicles.

In summary this is a great read however i am glad that I listened to the Clifton Chronicles first.
