Savannah Dupree is a freshman studying at Boston University on a full scholarship. But Savannah possesses something even more remarkable than a quick mind and an insatiable curiosity for learning. With a simple touch, she can see an object's past - a skill that puts her life in danger when her studies bring her into contact with a centuries-old English sword and the terrible secret hidden within the blade's history. In all his 300 years of living as one of the Breed, vampire warrior Gideon never dreamed he'd ever again see the blade that ended his young brothers' lives ages ago in London. There's one certain way to prove Gideon's suspicion, but it will mean using Savannah to help uncover the truth. With danger closing in from all sides, the passion that ignites between Gideon and Savannah will tempt them to risk their hearts and lives for a love that might just last an eternity.

I loved this book. It was exciting from start to finish. I liked Savannah and the gift she has. It was like having the Midas touch with a twist. The narrators Voice was just the right pitch and aided me in engaging with the characters and not the narrators Voice. The Breed Series is awesome!
Great novella. Dialog a little cliche for me but overall a very good story. Great addition to the series.
"Really awful narration"
The narrator did a horrible job narrating the male lead character Gideon. He was supposed to be British but having lived in Boston for many many decades. You'd expect a toned down English accent, right? Nope. She was all over the place, sometimes sounding Scottish, sometimes Australian, some Irish, and maybe even a little Canadian. There was some English accent in there, but it wasn't consistently from one area in England either. It was distracting enough to pull me right out of the story, which was really good on its own.
"I recommend this series!"
Narrator was excellent and voiced each character well! The storyline was great and kept you interested while listening.
"Wanted More Gideon and Savannah"
I loved this story and love the series. The narration is outstanding. I would have given this story all five stars (as I have for the other books in this series that I have listened to) if the story was longer. I enjoyed the storyline and interaction between Gideon and Savannah so much that I wanted their relationship and story to be explored and developed a bit more.
Pleasant to listen to. Great story line. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and to see what happens.
"Perfect for Beginning of Series"
I started this series after book #7 was written. Although I did read book #1 first and kept reading in order I was always curious how Savannah and Gideon met. This book is their story and it is exciting and fast pace book, just wish it was longer.
I enjoyed finding out how Savannah's gift worked. Also enjoyed listening to how the couple met..
When the couple was at Amelie's house together and bonded
I've listened to or read all of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series and I really love the series. I am excited to finally know Savannah and Gideon's story.
"3.5 stars, not particularly memorable story"
Ancient organization of 'good' vampires vs. bad vampires and rogues. Young human girl attracts forbidden interest of one of the protectors. Yadayadayada. Nothing particularly unique about the story. The narration was better than most. Not a series that I will continue.
"expect to struggle to finish it"
struggled to finish it. characters are way to stupid to exist, predictable and annoying.
"Nice, short prequel"
Those of you familiar with the Midnight Breed series will know Savannah and Gideon. This is their story. The narrator is the same as in previous books.
This was a nice short listen.
