A bond forged in blood. Fealty given to the one he desires above all others.
Graced with the ability to shift into any form, Diskant Black is the absolute authority when it comes to New York shifters, and as the Omega of the city, his word is law. Protecting the shifter races is more than a job, it's a predisposition ingrained since birth - nothing is more important. Until a chance encounter with a tiny female sets fire to his blood, brings him to his knees and turns his world upside down. Ava Brisbane is more than he bargained for in a mate - beautiful, fragile...human. If he wants to keep her by his side, he'll have to sacrifice a portion of his soul to establish a bond that can never be broken. Unfortunately, the timing couldn't be worse. Shepherds - hunters of all the shifter races - have arrived in New York. To protect the woman he can't live without, Diskant will have to stand against those who have come to start a war.

"Really good series!"
I love to listen to Maxine Mitchell. Audible, you should have her narrate all the super natural books especially the ones with Irish/Scottish accents. She's the best. The book itself has sold me on the series. It has all the right ingredients. Lust, Alpha Male, Love, and a story line. Love the Omega line.
"What an awesome shifter book!"
Man! Wow!!! I totally loved the alpha smexyness to this book. Diskant is hot hot hot!!! I loved the whole Omega is the ultimate shifter thing...instead of the omega being the runt of the pack... I liked it a lot. This was a very neat take on the shifter world to include vamps and gun wielding christian bad guys...called "Shepherds"... (Get it... Sheep amongst wolves)!
The story is a bit confusing toward the end, as different character as brought into the mix and the story is being read from their p.o.v... sooo other than that... once you realize who is doing the talking...it makes sense... I loved it.!!! Can't wait until Emory's book is on Audible...
Vampire Mine is book 3.... this is book 1!!!
Great narration... nice shift in voices...
Good credit or sale...
"Mine - Mine - Mine !!"
Ava is out on her own at night for a clandestine meeting where she expects to be handed back a family heirloom. See her brother Thomas who had always been bad news, had started gambling. To pay off his debts, he stole anything he could find, including the heirloom, a locket. Unfortunately the guy she’s to meet doesn’t show up, and as she’s about to head home, she’s accosted by vampires. Luckily for her, Diskant Black, a shifter, is in the neighborhood and rescues her. But Diskant isn’t just any shifter, he’s the Omega, the most powerful of lycanthropes and his word is law amongst the shifter community. Though born as a were-shifter, an Omega bears all the marks of all the shifter races, meaning he has the ability to shift into any of them.
Diskant rescues Ava and he’s immediately drawn to her scent, but what happens when he touches her is something he could never have expected.... I loved this idea of one ‘mate’, one person who you immediately know is yours. I've always wished I was one of those people who believed in soul-mates...
This book has it all. Loads of bad language, Great Action, Hot Steamy Sex and a fab story. I have down loaded Vampire mine but it is book 3 in this series but we are still waiting for book 2, Enemy Mine to be released on Audible...
Shifter stories, and steamy erotic sex scenes go hand in hand. There's nothing like that animalistic attraction between an alpha male and his mate to get your heart rate up and your blood pumping, and that's exactly what's inside Omega Mine.
While this story could be slightly confusing at times, it had a strong plot and was full of action, suspense, and steamy sex scenes. The Alpha and Omega (Hunter) world has unique and well developed characters, and was not limited to just shifters, there's vampires too! I liked the multiple POV's, and how we get to know the other characters that will follow the rest of the series.
Maxine Mitchell is one of my favorite female narrators. She does an awesome job with the characters, emotions, tone and pacing. She's the main reason I took a chance on listening to this audio.
Well worth time, but due to the price, I wouldn't waste a credit.
"BEGINNGING TO A GREAT PNR SERIES"
I’m all about a hot PNR book. I have read and listened to a lot of them. So for me to say this book rocked my PNR world is an understatement. I have never read anything by Aline Hunter before but I will be sure to keep her on my authors to watch out for list. Omega Mine delivers a new twist on an old theme. Usually the Omega is the weakling of the pack, but is this book Diskant Black, also known as Omega, is the most powerful shifter in the city. Not just wolf shifter either, Diskant can shift into any and all shifter races plus he wears leather and rides a bike, YUMMM. Ave Brisbane, known by Diskant as Pinky, is a human but there is nothing ordinary about her. She is a telepathic and just so happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Diskant meets Pinky and instantly the sexual attraction is scorching. Diskant will have to break down Pinky’s defense if he wants to claim his mate and maybe growl a couple of times too. This book contains a decent amount of action with religious fanatics trying to rid the world of anyone different than them, fallen vampires causes trouble and barely controlled shifters. Oh yeah, let’s throw some magic users into the mix to round everything off. The smex scenes are rocking hot, steamy and OMG downright scorching. WHEW!!!!
Should you purchase this book, yes please. It’s will captivate your interest from chapter one and never let you go. Half way through the book, I was already downloading the second book, Enemy Mine.
"IT HAD, & KEPT ME, FROM PARAGRAPH 1"
If you're looking for a listen that's got an exciting plot that's all consuming with great characters and a powerful uber Omega Shifter whose 'everything' is oh so much more than a mere Alpha's then look no further because you've just found it. They don't come more powerful, sexy, handsome, dominant, deadly and totally 'six pack fit' than Diskant the Harley owning, tattooed, leather-clad Omega over all of the NYC Shifters. But when he sniffs a beautiful human called Ava he, and the animals inside him, all chanted "mine, mine, mine" and he knew that he'd finally met his soul mate.
However, Ava's no push-over she's strong, smart, gifted and snarky and their love story/mating is going to be anything but easy as the Pack is suddenly threatened, deadly secrets are slowly uncovered and a psychic ability is shared. But death, destruction and danger awaits as an evil group of religious zealots are waging war against the Pack and twists, turns, surprises, suspense and vicious drama ensues. Despite all this, or because of it, Diskant and Ava's relationship grows from hot to 'phew, someone call the Fire Department' very very quickly! and, although it was a very possessive animalistic claiming over a short period of time, it was also passionate, tender, magical and loving.
Worth a credit? What an enjoyable well-written and richly developed listen this was that seamlessly flows to paint a brand new world of Wereshifters, Vampires, magic and more as the first Battle may have been won but the War is just starting. I for one, am in this series for the long-haul so whoopee and bring on book 2 NOW..... and oh YEAH very very creditworthy to any PNR lover that likes a good dose of a constantly aroused Were as he sniffs, pants, licks, bites and talks dirty as he claims what he possessively protects as his over and over again.
"Good Sexy Start to The Series"
Omega Mine is the first book in Aline Hunter's Alpha and Omega series and it delivers a punch.
Diskant Black is a gifted shifter who can change into any animal he wants to. He is also an Omega which means his decisions are final and if you don't agree with them too bad. He meets Ava Brisbane and realizes she is his true mate and sets out to ensure she belongs only to him.
There are numerous pack mates that develop the storyline and give us a sneak peek at future books and lots of action packed drama. There are wolf shifters, cat shifters as well as vampires and each has their own hierarchy within their groups. The guys are very hot and there are lots of intimate and steamy scenes between Diskant and Ava.
A group called the "Shepherds" are the self-appointed saviors of the world and their plan is to hunt all shifters into extinction. Their single minded determination borders on obsession and I have the impression they are willing to win at all costs.
The second book of the series is called "Enemy Mine" and I am looking forward to listening to it.
Maxine Mitchell was great with the delivery of the story.
"Good start, but too much sex"
This narrator does a good job with this book. Clearly this couple has great chemistry, but the sex was excessive. It was so much that I was getting annoyed.
The narrator did a good job differentiating the various creatures and humans that I had no trouble following even though I was cleaning the house. There is a really interesting story and creative world, but it’s getting lost by the constant sex scenes. I enjoyed the writing but I am familiar with this author as I have read other series by her. So I suspected that I would like this one. I appreciate the fact that this series is different from Rhiannon’s Law and the Desire of the Otherworld series.
The characters were also entertaining as Diskant displayed usual shifter possessiveness, without being overbearing. He was also a playful shifter which gave Ava room to be witty with him. Ava’s independence will serve her as I know her brother will be a force in the next book. She has proven that she is no wilting flower, so she will be a good partner to Diskant as the Shepherds continue with their agenda.
I want to listen book 2 but I really hope there is more story and less claiming.
"Compelling story beneath the explicit erotica"
Yes...I'd listen again to refresh the story elements which became much more interesting in the last third or so of the book. I frankly got bored with the sex scenes, so reading may be better.
Ya gotta love Ava's pluck - She adapts quickly to bizarre and fast-paced changes all around her.
She's not my favorite narrator. Her voice is clear and yet detached. I feel like my elementary school teacher is reading me the story and with this content, that's not comfortable.
the Shifter Evolution begins!
Omega Mine is my introduction to the writing style of Ailine Hunter. Since I'd like to see where she takes the story I'll most likely move on to Book 2. I'd love it more if the language used in the erotic scenes was more erotic than gutter talk. I'm a BDB fan all the way, got my Night Huntress on, so I know it can be done!
This book came across as boring to me. I tried listening to it several times, but it was not able to hold my attention. Finally I gave up and did not finish the book.
I think the author should have created a much stronger female character, someone who could actually challenge the male and so make the story more interesting. The female character came across as very insecure and just so happy to be loved that it didn't matter when she was introduced to a world she feared. She just went along with everything as others saved her. It also diluted the note of domination in the story because it was so predictable he would get his way with her each time. At the same time, the author has a new perspective on the world of shifters and vampires but she does not develop it throughout the story. This is meant to be a very different and fascinating experience from that of normal humans, but she never tells us enough about it
I think her performance was brilliant and probably the only reason why I listened to the entire book. She added a note of excitement that would otherwise be missing from the story, and gave a bit more character to the female in the story.
The sex scenes are very exciting and the detail in each one is great. The author brings to life some sexual fantasies in great detail and uses the fictional world she has created (especially the mind reading stuff) to push these fantasies to a whole new level.
I prefer the audio version
I have all four of the books so was able to follow it through
I'd prefer a different Narrator one that can change their voices better
Dangerously Vulgar language
These books hold a good story unfortunately the amount of the use of one word C*** was absolutely unnecessary, as every other term was used in the books .
The use of a better Narrator would be better too.
