Documentary producer Pearl Robinson is a beautiful and smart 40-year-old divorcée but has not had a date for over two years. When she hears about Alexandre Chevalier, a young French Internet success story, she assumes he is a nerd.
But when she bumps into him face to face, she's stunned by his charm, beauty, and sophistication, and startled by her strong feelings and desire for a man 15 years her junior.
His looks, wealth, and worldwide triumph with his social media site, HookedUp, means he can get any woman he chooses, but there is something about Pearl he finds irresistible.... The couple begins a passionate affair and Pearl's body is awakened in ways she never imagined possible. She is consumed by him and his magical touch. But secrets, jealous family members, and other external forces are threatening to pull them apart.

I have been a member of Audible for over a couple of years but this is my first review. Sorry to be Debbie-downer but this is the worst book I have ever listened to.
The book description says Pearl is an attractive and smart woman. I'm sure she's attractive but certainly not smart. She has the inner musings of a 16 year old with her first boyfriend and she is read that way as well. It got to the point where I was just rolling my eyes and shaking my head. I listened to the end just so I could see how many more times she could say "no pun intended".
I purchased this based on the Amazon reviews so I'm sure it's slightly better if you actually read it and not listen to it. The narrator was not right for this book. Better for a children's book.
The worst book I ever heard. No plot or no character development. A story about a whiney 40 year old woman. Not worth the time or credit.
"Was just OK for me...."
Ok, I like a little more to the story then sex, sex, sex. But the french man is intriguing and
Pearl, well she's insecure in her 40 yr old body, she's still a girl. Didn't like that part of the story. The french man is definitely romantic though, and yes I will read the series. Hoping the story line becomes something of interest.
"10 x better than 50 shades!"
such a gentle beautiful romantic story!! this was tailor made for the older woman. loved it!
"Perplexed with a capital P."
The story was so up and down, it made it hard to take it seriously. I rolled my eyes so many times and just plain couldn't believe some of Pearl's reactions/thoughts. And they never talk about her "deceit" about her job...give me a break.
The narration though was fantastic --> very well done with great accent.
"Just can't finish it"
I can not finish this one. There's no substance nor plot to this book. Almost 3/4 of the way, just can't bring myself to finish it and to think it's a series..
I will try another book in the future as long as it's not narrated by Laurel Wilson.
I never heard anything else she has narrated but this book was horrible. I HATE the french accent and the things he says is just cheesy.
"Love Makes Us Do the Strangest Things"
I fell in love with Pearl and Alexandre from the very first chapter. Pearl is more insecure about herself than you'd think she would be considering how successful she is at work, but she's just come off a bad divorce which left her in a bit of a mid-life crisis. Add to that, she's recently turned forty and is wondering if she'll ever find love again. Enter Alexandre who charms her and brings excitement to her life - plus incredible, mind-blowing sex. These two have a real connection that's greater than just the physical, but it takes some time for Pearl to trust his intentions. Alexandre is a fascinating combination of successful, confident business man and amazing lover with a little craziness thrown in. At times, he seems to be the one who's more mature instead of being 15 years younger than she is. Some of the events in his life seemed a little over the top. Could he really have done so much in just his twenty-five years? Could Pearl's insecurities really make her do some of the wild things she does? Sometimes when reading fiction, you have to just suspend disbelief and go with it in order to have some fun. After all, who wouldn't want to be whisked away on a private jet to a gorgeous house in Provence, live in a penthouse in NY, or have a guy like Alexandre fall in love with them. Count me in!
a lot of sex
My most memorable part is when she got the necklace
the Italian guy loved the French accent they gave him.
If ur lookin for a book that has a lot of sex in it then this is the book. Didn't think I was gonna like it cuz of the characters age but age is jus a # its really funny n lovin.
"Sorry Could not finish This Book"
I was not crazy about the book. The Cougar storyline was what caused me to check this one out. But Pearl who is 40 years old and described as independent and intelligent, acted 15 and insecure and after a while annoying. Alexandre 25 years old was more mature but boring and at times vindictive. The narrator was horrible and just made an so so read unbearable.
