I walked through hell, some of it caused by myself. Things were torn away from me that I would never get back. Hearts were broken beyond repair. Then mayhem ensued, and I lost who I was.
Music was always part of it. Music almost killed me. It dragged me in, caught me up, and almost destroyed me. I lost who I was and became someone I never wanted to be.
Sex, drugs, and rock and roll. The release, the buzz, the electric guitar's rage against all that was f'ed up in the world. It took me away and made me feel something when I was a soulless nothing ...until the high wore off.
Music also brought me back.
I woke to a Zeppelin song, face down in my own vomit, next to a pile of coke and with three naked women at my feet. Disgusted with myself, disgusted with them, I walked, and I walked alone.
One chance meeting, a golden opportunity, a chance of a lifetime changed it all.
The sins of the past are behind me now. The day has finally come when I will walk onstage, not as an opening act, but as the act. Hours before my dream comes to fruition, though, I run into a girl, one f'ing girl, and I am back on the path of destruction.

"LOVE THIS SERIES"
He is trying to look forward yet keeps being pulled back by his past.
His relationship with River.
They work well together and Wen Ross' voice is so good.
When he walks away from River in the hospital.
The audio could be better but loved the narration.
The narration was awesome. I love how the narrators play the roles of each character rather than just reading the story aloud.
It reminds me of Olivia Cunning's Sinners on Tour series, which is also about a hard rockin' band and features musicians who suffer injuries that threaten their musical careers (like Memphis & River, but not Finn).
My favorite scene was when Finn finally sang on stage.
Yes. The whole ending from the accident on was very moving.
This is a great series, but you should start with Xavier (Men of Steel #4) then listen to this series (Rockers of Steel) in order. They are all standalones, but I think they're more enjoyable in order.
"Sexy,steamy and wanting more!!!"
Wow what an incredible book written by an awesome author and narrated by incredible narrators!!! I sat and listened all the way through and couldn't stop Jeez Wen wow he really brought life to Finn and damned if I was jealous of Sonya the whole book lol. I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a hot read!!
"My Two Pennies"
I enjoyed Memphis but I LOVE Finn's story even more. I thought it was great that this book backtracked a few moments to where Sonya was fighting for her bag back and right in that moment Finn's reaction to her. The notebook that Sonya was reading in the beginning.. wow would of never thought of the meaning behind it was the way it turned out to be. The way the story has twists and turns kept me on my toes and dying to know what was happening next. Was an absolutely great read, I loved this story. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
"Finn Beckett *swoon*"
HOT AS HADES
Finn Beckett is my favorite character. He's hot, he's deep, he has this soft side that only Sonya gets to see. He's amazing. And he's in a band. That automatically makes him a catch.
Umm, I can never make this decision. I always love the performances of these two narrators.
I know I laughed. I know I hurt when Sonya hurt. I loved when Finn loved. And I enjoyed everything about this book.
Handsome, Stubborn, Kind
I can't compare Finn Beckett to any other book. It is not fair to compare. Each book stands on their own.
I love listening to Kai and Wen. They make the characters come to life and really enhance the story with their tone and inflection
Absolutely. My first MJ Fields book was Memphis Black and I am addicted. I want to read/ listen to all her novels. She tells a great story
I would have given this book a four or five stars, but the background information on Finn and Sonya came sporadically and at random which makes it irrelevant when pieced together at last. Actually we did not get, or, I did not get fully what happened to Sonya. I thought it was sexual assault, but actually, I don't think it was. I may be wrong. That is the problem I have with the book. Information was mucky at best.
I am happy, Finn got his act together at last. Why he was annoyed Sonya knew about his past, I have no idea, except to fill the pages. The drug use in the story by all the rockers is also distasteful. There is no voice of reason at all among them.
The situation about Sonya's aunt also kind of came out of nowhere. Somehow. The story is not cohesive enough for me. The narration was also awkward. different people interjecting or reading different lines. That could work with stage dramatisation. Not audio.
"Hot story and even hotter narrators"
Holy rock n roll! This is a hot story that will keep you glued to the narrators. The narration is fantastic and Wen & Kai play off each other so easily the characters become very believable. Not even sure how to review without being a spoiler, but Wen brings out a this rockstar vibe it is super HOT.... enjoy!!
This book is an erotic romance.
Finn at first site of the woman that he loves to hate and wants under him more he is doing everything he can to control the urge to throttle her or tie her to his bed. Sex drug and rock and roll is his life and he has to work side by side with the one woman that throws him off his game.
Sonya knows his type all to well and wants nothing to do with it, but the more they end up in the same room together her thought are on how to get him naked more than wanting him to pay for a past she cannot change.
I have to admit the story is good, not for me though.
"A love story with a twist"
Definitely. This series is incredible. MJ Fields is an awesome writer.
There were too many to count. The love scenes were awe inspiring, the poetry sublime. MJ paints a great picture.
Wen's love scenes are the stuff that legends are made from, and this book is full of them. Kai's different accents are realistic and help to distinguish between characters.
I was upset that River and Finn's friendship dissolved the way it did. They need to let their pride down and get back to supporting each other.
