"SWEET, STEAMY, AND OH, SO SEXY! 🔥🔥🔥🔥"
I've been wanting to try a Carly Phillips story for some time now, and glad I took a chance with this one. While the plot wasn't the most original, and this is more of an instant love story, the delivery made it a great listen! It's hot, sexy, and the authors did a great job developing the chemistry and attraction between the H/h. You could feel the steam, and the sex scenes had the right amount of details without being over the top.
Samantha may have been living the life of luxury under her parent's rule, but she wasn't going to let her father coerce her into marrying a man she didn't love. Determined to follow her dreams, and make it own her own, she leaves under the threat of being cut off from her parent's money. She finds herself drinking her problems away at a bar where she meets the sexy, hot bar owner, Clay. At closing time, Samantha finds herself with no place to go, and thanks to her credit card being declined, she can't even pay the bar tab. Clay's a Saint, and takes pity on her, and allows her to crash at his apartment in the back of the bar. There's an instant connection, and chemistry between them, and against his better judgment, Clay gives Samantha a job, and allows her to stay with him until she can save enough money to find her own place. He's sure this rich girl won't last one night working at the bar, but she's a lot tougher than what he gives her credit for. Clay also thinks he's all wrong for Samantha, and finds it hard to keep his hands to himself, especially when she acts all confident, and makes the advancements. He gives it hard, fast, and dirty, and that's just how she likes it! Just when things are going good, Clay's past comes crashing in.
Sophie did a great job the the narration; however, her female characters were much better than her male characters. It wasn't bad enough to turn me off from listening to more audios narrated by Sophie, but I do feel having dual m/f narrators would have made the narration perfect.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story! The ending was a little rushed, and the conflict was to easily resolved. The angst and drama was on the milder side, but it's the steamy, hot sex scenes, and romance that drives this story. I'm definitely going to wish list more audios by these authors.
"Saint not too bad"
This book is an erotic romance.
I have to admit this book was well written, but not my kind of story line, sorry.
Samantha has lived the rich and wealthy life style but it was not her desire to be a pon in her family's game. She when she is given a choice to marry for business, she take the opportunity to live her dream of being free and finding herself, instead she finds love. How to convince a man who has never known love before that what they has is forever.
Clay did not grow up like a normal family, his mother was a drug addict and prostitute since the moment he was born. It was always his responsibility to take charge and provide. He lived a poor life but keeping his brothers under one roof was his only goal. Until a man gave him a chance and he passed it along, giving back but not his heart. Until a rich girl lost comes into his bar, it will change him forever.
"LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO BE AN AWESOME SERIES"
It's so easy to write a review on a book that I've loved ever minute listening to and this is definitely one of those books. All the main characters were loveable and interesting, the storyline was addictive and very enjoyable and the narrator was well picked as I always love Sophie Eastlake's narration and she's one of only a few women that can truly pull off men's rich and sexy voices successfully.
Samantha has lived a life of privilege never wanting for anything but, when she overhears a conversation between her Father and her Boyfriend that makes her blood run cold, everything in her life changes. And that's what brings her into Clay's Bar drowning her sorrows with three Royal F'ks, a Screaming Orgasm, a Slow Comfortable Screw, a Blow Job and a Deep Throat.... no girls - heads out of the gutter please - they're the dirtiest cocktails they have. As Samantha is slowly but surely drinking herself legless, little did she know that Clay, the handsome sexy Bar owner, is watching over her, drawn to her and is about to change her life, and his, forever.
But it wasn't going to be easy.... there were hidden demons, a past that was going to come back and cause havoc and Clay's defences, erected through a traumatic childhood, had high impenetrable walls. Clay thought he was bad news and undeserving of love but he was really a sexy sweet Saint by always rescuing the needy and secretly and selflessly helping others and Samantha was just going to be another person he'd help and then he'd send her on her way. But Samantha was a lot stronger, more adaptable and much more capable than he bargained for and it wasn't long before she'd buried her way into his thoughts..... and his life. The sexual chemistry was intense and was there from the start and, even when Clay tried to resist temptation, it wasn't long before their chemistry naturally combusted into passion filled hot sex..... as well as undisclosed heartfelt feelings and a secret. But life was about to throw a mean and nasty spanner in the works that would bring everything to a halt and lead to drama, sacrifice and heartache.
As I said earlier, there were great characters.... a damaged sexy Alpha Hero, a strong, caring deserving Heroine and two other Walker Brothers who are all very close but each one is very different from the other (one's a man-whore and one's a Cop) and I can't wait to hear their 'love conquers all' stories. Dual POV's, there was much more story than sex which was nice as these two characters fought for, rescued and deserved each other (after some character growth) and there was a HEA with no cliffhanger.
Worth a credit? It was absolutely worth a credit, it was a lot more tender and sweeter than I thought it was going to be, the sex scenes were hot and graphic but didn't venture further, the banter between characters flowed smoothly and the romance blossomed into a beautiful love story.
"I Guess Its Just Me"
I enjoyed this book. The rich girl leaving it all behind to find true love with the guy from the "wrong side of town". While the plot is one we have seen before, the details make it still enjoyable. My biggest issue was with the narration. She does a lovely job with the female characters, but the male character voices do absolutely nothing for me. This bothers me less when a book is told solely from the point of view of the female protagonist. However, when there is an alternating POV, I do feel the book suffers when there is only a female narrator. Case in point, the voice for the unfeeling, pretentious father sounds exactly like the voice she uses for the hot tough guy with a heart of gold bartender.
The writing is great, and I am a huge fan of the author in general. So, I will be reading the rest of the series in lieu of listening to the rest of the series. I have to know what happens with the other brothers.
this was my book. good to listen and thanks to audible for such a romantic story
First time I am reading a Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. I enjoyed the story...really liked the characters and the performer did a good job acting .
"Same ol' same ol'"
Authors could have used a dictionary and/or editor, how many synonyms exist for "let alone"? Narration ok, male voices a bit old and all the same.
very interesting read. i couldnt stop.listening. the narrator did a great job too.

I loved this book! The chemistry between the two characters was amazing. Also, seeing two people do anything for the one they loved showed what true love is about. I recommend this book to anyone that loves a a happy ending.
