The makings of a good series!
Undercover for three years with a dangerous and psychopathic arms dealer, ATF Special Agent Thayne Wolfe has amassed enough evidence for a watertight case, if he can only stay alive long enough to testify. With an enormous price on his head, Thayne goes into witness protection as a hairdresser, guarded solely by former marine / sniper Jarrett Evans. It’s increasingly hard for Jarrett to keep focus around someone as handsome as Thayne. The bones of this romantic thriller were great: a solid story, lots of danger, and some thick sexual tension. The writing let things down a bit with excessive or repetitive wording, but it didn’t get in the way and I’ll definitely explore the rest of the series. If you like James Patterson’s action novels, you’ll probably like this. Life in the hairdressing salon was fun, I wish we’d stayed there for longer! I love most of Michael Dean / Pauley’s audio narrations, his accents were excellent, but this seemed a little wooden and stilted compared to more recent performances - maybe he was channeling two beefy law-enforcement guys!
