In Wisconsin's Northwoods, fishing is a way of life - and when the muskies are biting, life couldn't be better. But when Doc Osborne catches more than he bargained for, he winds up in the middle of a murder mystery - and only Chief of Police Lew Ferris can get him out of it.

"My new favorite series!"
Loved it! Great depth of characters and plot. I can't wait to continue the series!
Holds your interest. Don't want to stop listening once you start the book. Clean story for adult listeners. Enjoyed every minute
"Started slowly, boring narration, ended better."
Possibly. I was intrigued by the Northern setting, the fishing angle, and the female sheriff, but the narrator, to me, was fairly boring. The book ended on a high note, so I might possibly read another in the series, but I'll be unlikely to purchase another audio book version in this series.
Possibly, if they have a special interest in mysteries with an outdoor setting. It's not one of my "must read" books.
I thought her narration was quite flat. She didn't seem that invested in the characters and there wasn't much voice differentiation between one character and the next.
Not really. It ended well, but the beginning and middle started slowly and remained fairly tedious. I'm not sure if that were because of the writing or narration, but I suspect that the book would read better than it listened.
"Too fishy for me"
The writer is skilled but the story was more about fishing than any of the characters. I felt as if there was going to be a fishing test at the end of the book.
