After the second one, this was starting to become a soap opera. Jeff Harding saved it. I have always been a fan of his and his ominous voice, when he warns some one.
Really wrecked the series by changing the narrator. After listening to the first 2 books in quick succession- I couldn't finish this one due to the annoying change of characters voices. And the girls voices were just plain pathetic. Will try one if his earlier stand alone books.
Linwood Barclay is a genius! Jeff Harding is a great narrator. Wonderful story and a thrilling finish to a fantastic trilogy!
"A good book, kept me guessing to the end"
The only thing I didn't like was Jeff Hardings' American drawl, and he was even worse doing the female voices! The previous two Promise Falls books had great narrators.
I liked the police officer Barry Duckworth who added comedy intervals with his endless battle with cake!
Annoying whining drawl
It made me laugh in places, and at times exasperated as the prime suspects kept getting killed off.
The Promise Falls trilogy needs to be read in order obviously. The last book has all the answers but it still leaves it open to further books. I really enjoyed these books.
After having to wait for this the third book for an ending I found it very poor. The story was filled with lots of irrelevant content and the ending was very rushed and unfinished. Linwood has really let his readers down with this one.
"Keeps you guessing till the end."
I've 'read' all of this author's books & have never been disappointed. This book has a very intriguing plot with lots of twists and turns.
"As always brilliant, first class"
Excellent listen had you involved from beginning to end. Can't wait for the next instalment. Linwood Barclay can't write them quick enough!! Hurry up and write the next one!! Please 📚
The best in this series yet. Can't wait to read the others. Loved every minute of it
"I'm definitely not moving to Promise Falls!"
I thought Broken Promise was okay, but really enjoyed Far From True and this third and final book in the trilogy, was for me the best. I'd definitely recommend reading or listening to the other two first though. The story has several plot lines running in tandem and I like the way he uses characters from earlier books, although I haven't read all of his earlier books. I enjoyed Jeff Harding's narration, although some of his female characters can be a little whinny. I don't want to spoil the plot, but you'll be thinking twice before drinking tap water whilst you listen to this book.
"Another winner for Linwood Barclay"
Although I'm an avid fan of Mr Barclays books and can admit I'm a little biased but this climax to the trio of Promise Falls got me guessing right to the end plenty of twists and a possibility he hasnt finished in Promise Falls I recommend this to all thriller readers but you need to read Broken promise and Far from true first. Thanks Linwood and please hurry with next one
"worst narrator ever."
the first two were great I don't know why the narrator had to change but some one please teach him about intonation
"The Twenty Three"
As always, an excellent story full of twists and turns with the now familiar characters, David Harwood, Detective Barry Duckworth and the dubious politician, Findlay. A good read!
