Publisher's Summary

Wentworth, Ohio: a small, friendly town where the Carver children bicker over sweets in the E-Z shop and writer Johnny Marinville is the only resident who minds his own business. On Poplar Street, apart from the impending storm, it's just a normal summer's day - with Frisbees flying, lawn mowers humming and barbeques grilling.

As the paperboy makes his round, he is unaware of the chrome-red van idling up the hill....

Soon the residents will be caught up in a game of wills as the regulators arrive in force to face a child whose powers of expression are just awakening.

If you like The Regulators, don't miss Desperation, written as an unidentical pair.

    Story
"Desperation part two, Tak is back"

If you liked Desperation this will be familiar territory, but with the added twist that Tak can bring horror to life in very real ways for a few residents of a very unlucky block in fictional town of Wentworth, Ohio, where some of the characters of the previous novel share a different reality in what is a related universe of horror, but do not fret about this unusual complication just take the ride into Stephen King’s world and enjoy all the evil from the safety of your reality.

A fun turn on the vampire theme, here the entity requires fear and pain to grow its power and delivers in buckets of blood and other bodily fluids. Not Stephen King’s best but fast and full of his usual americana and period description.

    "Terrific book and performance"
Where does The Regulators rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best SK books behind Cell, Duma Key and Under the Dome.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Seth

What does Frank Muller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Not much. He reads it well but others he has read (Talisman) has fallen short but credit where due for this one.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.....too long and needed to absorb.

    Any additional comments?

Great book. Going to try book I think is linked "Desparation".

    "Below par Stephen King"
What disappointed you about The Regulators?

Good idea for a plot but story line was disappointing. Carnage over described, story was disjointed

What will your next listen be?

Something a bit more based in the real world

What three words best describe Frank Muller’s voice?

    Average, average, average.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Just didn't enjoy it.

    Any additional comments?

This story was too much in the same vein as other Stephen King stories, just seemed a bit stale

    Story
    "Bachman"

It's always sad listening to a Frank Muller book as he was so good at them, and after his fatal accident, there will obviously be no more. However, this was great and linked in with Desperation, as the baddie enters the body of an 8 year old autistic boy called Seth.

The whole story only spans one afternoon, but it doesn't seem like a long, drawn out listen at all. It's fast and intriguing and you dread which members of the neighbourhood are going to make it, each time a new volley of deadly shots flies in.
