The enthralling new psychological thriller from the best-selling author of The Girl Before.

When Abbie Cullen met Tim Scott, she was a struggling artist and he was the brilliant British cofounder of one of Silicon Valley's most successful start-ups.

Are we losing our humanity?

This novel really made me think about what it is to be human or not? Twists to the last and a poignant Authors note to boot. Gripping.

Didn’t love it but my god it was clever

This was nothing like JP Delaneys other books which I absolutely devoured and loved. But it was so clever, so whilst I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much, I really appreciated it and couldn’t stop listening. Every time I thought I had figured something out, it would turn on its head once again. It’s not one of my favourites of his, but very well thought out and put together and I couldn’t not finish it. A really interesting concept and I really liked the author’s note at the end with the insight into how aspects were related to the his own family and autism in reality.

Absolutely brilliant!

Another winner by JP Delaney. I wasn't sure if I'd like this book with the A.I. topic but I think this writer could engage me on any topic. I absolutely loved it. The readers did a great job, I enjoyed every minute of this story, it was fascinating.

Awesome twists, turns and open ending

I found this book to be captivating from beginning to end.
I was surprised & saddened by the author’s note at the end of the book that informs the reader of his own experiences.
Definitely worth reading- so glad I used a credit on this one.

different

I enjoyed this book but it is unusual and the story is not what you expect. I do not want to give anything away. The ending was disappointing to me.

Really enjoyed it.

I thoroughly enjoyed my second novel from this author, although it did take me slightly longer to be drawn into it unlike The Girl Before, but after as the story picked up I couldn’t stop listening. Well worth the patience. Will go on and get the next one.

Brilliant till the end

Great story. Brilliant narration. Excellent finish. I think I’m great at these who done it and what happened. But alas, this had me listening intently for hours. Now off to purchase another book!!!

So good … until the final chapters

This was such an excellent thriller. It stayed with me all day after each reading session and I find myself thinking about it days after finishing it. It raised a lot of questions for me about what it means to be human. Then I got to the last few chapters and the ending was so over the top. It was ridiculous and very disappointing. There was a totally unnecessary and unbelievable twist near the end and then a neatly wrapped and tied up little parcel of a conclusion that was seriously unsatisfying after investing so much emotional energy into this story. It read like it was written by a different author. He even actively spells out the ‘what is human?’ question instead of letting you wonder yourself as he did in earlier chapters. It’s a trite Hollywood ending and I suspect he had movie rights in mind when he wrote it.

Despite that, I think I’d still recommend the book for its original idea and un-put-down-ability thorough 90% of it.
