Publisher's Summary

The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Marian Keye’s heartbreaking stunner of a novel, The Mystery of Mercy Close, read by the actress Niamh Daly.

“I employ this thing called The Shovel List.” “A shovel...?” “No. A Shovel List. It’s more of a conceptual thing. It’s a list of all the people and things I hate so much that I want to hit them in the face with a shovel.”

Meet Helen - youngest of the Walsh sisters and a law unto herself. She’s easily bored, has an inability to filter her thoughts and was fired from every job she ever had before she found her true calling as a private investigator. But times are tough for PIs, and Helen’s had no choice but to take on the search for AWOL boyband has-been Wayne Diffney: The Wacky One. It’s not all bad this game of Where’s Wayne.

It may have brought her charming crook of an ex Jay Parker back into her life, but it’s giving her an excuse to avoid the usual Walsh family dramas and the intense looks from her gorgeous boyfriend Artie that make her heart beat wildly with lust and panic in equal measure. But most of all it’s an excellent distraction from the huge swarm of black vultures gathering over her head. If she hides out in her target’s empty house on Mercy Close for long enough maybe they’ll go away...But as Helen begins to unravel the mysteries secreted on Mercy Close she discovers a kindred spirit in a man unwilling to be found. Could someone be telling her to look a little closer to home?

I love this series!

I’m listening to this series one book after another and each time I think the last book can’t be bettered… our author is so incredibly talented and the narrator/s capture each member of the Walsh family so well, I feel like I know them. The Irish humour is ‘laugh out loud’ I don’t want it to end!

Glad I stuck with it

Sometimes I wonder if it's just the mood I'm in. I was really struggling to get into this story wise. I just couldn't get my head around where it was going and I was seriously going to give it up. However, I hate wasting money for one thing, and figured I would listen a little longer. All the threads began to come together. It truly was worth it. Such a great listen with many excellent themes intertwined. Loved the humour. Love the main protagonist. I also have to admit a definite fondness for the Irish setting. What an absolute delight. This is my first Marion Keyes, it won't be my last, especially if the talented Niamh Daley narrates. She is superb. Well worth the listen, a great book.

Finally - Helen Walsh

Book 5 and final in the Irish Walsh sisters series from Ms Keyes recommended via the excellent Julie Sinkers.

Again great wit and entertaining dialogue & in true form we are mixed with a heavy number. This one looks at a serious and near impossible case of depression, mixed with a great mystery and taken on by the fiesty Helen Walsh.

Thanks Jules I've really enjoyed them all over the last 5 months.

Didn't want the mystery to end; so funny!

Interesting mystery that touches on serious personal life dramas.
Oh so funny!
I was in hysterically laughing while waiting forever at the Dr.

Loved it!

Loved every minute of this book. Helen’s anxiety & depression were well researched & very true to life, for myself anyway & I related to the up & downs of the book so well ending with a feeling of satisfying optimism.
The story itself was thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end with Marion’s wonderful tongue in cheek humour throughout. The narration was spot on & a pleasure to listen to. I know I will listen to this again. Highly recommended!

Surprising!

After listening to the Walsh sister books in order, this one truly surprised me. Much more of an emphasis on the mystery/Helen rather than her love story and I appreciated it. It was clever and I wasn’t able to guess the ending. I think it’s my favourite in the series.
