""Ah Love Could thou and I with Fate conspire..""
These are stories of murder and mystery where Mr Quin inspires an older batchelor of some means to alter a seeming Fate. Again and again. A delightful listen. For me this is a very different Christie. Having written that, there still are, the trip to Egypt, the country homes, weekend guests, young Americans doing Europe, a troupe of robbers, rural hotels, motoring through the countryside, thunderstorms, a Duchess, quiet islands in the sun and Casino. And then some.
I love anything by Agatha Christie and if your a fan you will love it too. I was'nt expecting lots of short stories, I'm not sure if it tells you this in the description, but it is still a great book by the Crime Queen.
"Short Story Gems"
Mr. Harley Quin is one of Agatha Christie`s most engaging characters together with Mr.Satterthwaite who appears in each story as the vehicle by which wrongs are righted and justice is done. The stories are intriguing and entertaining. This is Agatha Christie at her short story best and one laments that there are not more of them. Hugh Fraser`s narration is, as always, excellent.
"Enjoyable but slightly bonkers"
A good little collection of short stories, apart from the last one that takes the whole premise just that little bit too far for me. Definitely worth a listen though. I rather adore Mr Satterthwaite
"A must for Christie fans"
I have always enjoyed the Poirot/Mis Marple stories, so was delighted to find this book of short stores with characters I had not come across before - Mr Quinn & Mr Satterthwaite
"Mysterious Mr Quinn"
I'd never heard of this book but I took a chance on it
Well narrated by Hugh Fraser really brought the characters to life it was a intresting storyline with lots of different ways of things happening I actually enjoyed the book it was really intresting a totally different way of seeing Agatha Christie books.
"Good for bedtime short stories"
Just what you expect from Christie.these short stories are good for car journey or bedtime.suitable for all ages and well read
"My favourite Agatha Christie book"
I am a big fan of Agatha Christie's work and this is my all time favourite. It is quite different from the rest of her books and has a slightly spooky atmosphere. Hugh Fraser (Captain Hastings) does a very good job of narrating all the different characters. A pleasure to listen to!
"Some things get better with age!"
I loved this book. hard to believe it was first published in 1930. Yes there are parts of it which are dated and very well to do. However there are parts that are just magical.
The narration by Hugh Fraser was somehow comforting and apt, a pleasure to listen to.
"The amazing Mr Quin!"
I love this collection of short stories by Agatha Christie, which feature the quiet but observant Mr Satterthwaite and the mysterious Mr Quin. Mysteries to be solved (not always murder) and a sense of the darkly supernatural. I particularly enjoyed 'The Dead Harlequin' story. An overall interesting mix (some better than others) but all enjoyable. Hugh Fraser does an excellent job as always narrating the stories.
"the wonders of Agatha Christie!"
The Mysterious Mr Quin is a fabulous example of Agatha Christie's divine ability to construct amazingly complete characters. Her stories are artful woven like a spiders web. It's a great collection of short stories that become one big tapestry of mystery.
Hugh Fraser is the perfect reader as he is so synonymous with Agatha Christie.
a must for short story lovers!
