Publisher's Summary

To the Jockey Club, the racing world would be a better place without Julius Apollo Filmer. An expert in corruption with a devastating line in witness intimidation, and proving to be a slippery character to put behind bars. Baffled, they call in undercover security agent Tor Kelsey to keep an unflinching eye on Filmer and his associates. A mission that takes him from the finest of English racecourses to the wild Canadian interior, on a luxury transcontinental train journey to end them all. On board, a troupe of actors are playing out a murder mystery to amuse their wealthy passengers. Ideal cover for a secret investigator with secrets of his own. And ideal cover, as it turns out, for an ice cool blackmailer with murder on his mind.

Enjoyable

Original Review in 2015::
The story was pretty good although it wasn't one of Dick Francis's best I didn't think. The narration was great, but the recording was terrible. It sounded as if it had been transferred from audio tape and Tony Britton's voice gradually got deeper and deeper and then all of a sudden changed up again.

Update in 2021
I've just listened to this again and the recording quality has improved, I think they must have uploaded a better version. So ignore my previous review!

The Edge

As usual Tony Britton reads it beautifully. His voice is my favorite for audio book readings. The recording was perfect - don’t know what other reviewers were complaining about. Evenly read, clear and same volume throughout. Thank you for great stories Dick Francis.

Disappointed

Love the story one of my favourites. Recording is dreadful, disjointed and volume up and down
