People are capable of almost anything.
Fast-paced and addictive, The Couple Next Door announces a major new talent in thriller writing.
You never know what's happening on the other side of the wall.
Your neighbour told you that she didn't want your six-month-old daughter at the dinner party. Nothing personal, she just couldn't stand her crying. Your husband said it would be fine. After all, you live only next door. You'll have the baby monitor, and you'll take it in turns to go back every half hour.
Your daughter was sleeping when you checked on her last. But now, as you race up the stairs in your deathly quiet house, your worst fears are realized. She's gone. You've never had to call the police before. But now they're in your home, and who knows what they'll find there. What would you be capable of when pushed past your limit?

"2016's most talked-about new thriller." (Stylist)
"Meticulously crafted and razor-sharp. The Couple Next Door lingers long after you turn the final page." (Harlan Coben)
"How well do we ever know those around us? The Couple Next Door will keep you glued to the pages in search of the answer. Even then, you'll never guess the truth...until it's too late." (Lisa Gardner)
Two dimensional characters, weak plot and totally predictable pretty much from third chapter.
Impossible to like or empathise with any of the characters.
Pleasant narration the only plus
Excellent book. Keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I highly recommend it.
Then the narrator slows down and it's really well read but the story lacks any great GOTCHA moments..
I still happily listened to the end. A fun listen overall.
I did like this book but it felt predictable at times and I didn't really care for any of the characters.
There was something about the way the book was written which reminded me I was always listening to a story rather than being able to sink into it and forget where I was. Maybe it was the repeating of the policeman's name everytime he spoke "said Rasbach" "said Rasbach". Maybe it was that I never really believed how the characters were behaving.
However I still enjoyed this book and there was a lot of mystery and would recommend if you are looking for a quick and easy read.
So full of suspense that I couldn't put it down for a second it was an emotional roller coaster with such a shock ending. Would recommend to everyone!
Loved it. I never knew what would happen next!
fast paced and we'll written! Brilliant will recommend
I really enjoyed this book. I looked forward to driving to work every day because I could listen to it! There are so many twists and turns, just when you thought you had worked it out another piece of information turned up. Easy to listen to and follow and a lovely voice reading it.
This was the worst book I have read this year. The storyline is bad. The characters are one dimensional. What a waste of time
Great story that kept me entertained and anxious to know what was next. Lots of twists!!
"An excellent thriller with many twists and turns"
Riveting, believable, fast-paced
It has many unexpected twists. The plot attracted me but the actual story was even better than I anticipated. The story was very well told with plenty of detail but not so much that it was boring or monotonous.
Her voice brought the characters to life. They were all well developed and believable.
The incident in the school bathroom. Without giving anything away it was quite shocking.
Highly recommend this book. I enjoyed the whole story. The baby's mother's story was well thought out and had a lot of depth.
"A few hours I won't get back"
Truly ridiculous story line. I'll be getting a refund on this book. Ludicrous story line and so many repetitive 'he says' that it drove me mad. Surely a decent author comes up with other words and ways to narrate speech between characters? Poor story. Just can't recommend
"Is this meant to be a joke?"
A better plot, more believable characters, an ending that did not feel as if the writer had become desperate to finish it!
Not at all!
Almost certaintainly not.
..Anger that something so poor could have received recommendations from publishers and reviewers.
A good idea wasted is my reaction.
"Brilliant brilliant brilliant! All 5 stars"
Addictive, excellent story . At the start I thought this was a bit 'easy' but it only gets better ! Highly recommended book
"Captivating and thrilling. But predictable."
I enjoyed this book once I got over the slightly annoying American narrator. The book kept you guessing, captivated and intrigued. However the storyline is slightly predictable.
"Compelling page turner!!"
Story was full of twists and was utterly gripping!Heard it all over 24 hours as desperately wanted to know what happened! Highly recommended.
Excellent story but so implausible, good twists and turn, and the ending a surprise. We are talking about a baby here but the mother and father seem to forget that
"Jaw droppingly good....."
I cannot tell you how many times my jaw has dropped open listening to this book.
So many twists and turns, leaving you completely speechless......
Compulsive listening, and narrated so well......
Addictive and convincing. The story kept me guessing and listening with intent throughout. Definitely recommended.
You expect one thing and suddenly it all shifts throwing you completely off the case.
On the edge of my seat the entire time.
Gripping thriller from start to finish. Great plot twists, I wish I hadn't finished it so I could listen to it again!
