What a pleasant book/audiobook to experience. I listened to the audio version that was like listening to the Radio during its heyday. The actors superb performances show the story so vividly. The interjection of a character's dialogue with another's, interruptions in speech, is so realistic; it displays the great talent of Arthur Conan Doyle.

The uncanny deductive reasoning, Sherlock Holmes wraps up each case in a neat, clever, conclusion that astounds and entertains the reader. I am taken to each environment by the articulate narration which is only used to describe a change in location, a significant object, and/or buildings in a scene. The story unfolds with clarity and vision through the characters' words and voice inflections.

An outstanding, authentic and atmospheric rendition of Conan Doyle's most famous creation. The BBC production wavers little from the original and is simply wonderful. A must for anyone wanting the real thing!

I am continuously so satisfied by these bbc audio dramas of Sherlock Holmes that I sometimes wonder if I'll ever stop listening to them. The great thing about them is that they are so layered you could listen repeatedly and find something new each time!

Do not waste another second in hesitation and purchase this book, you will love it.

      "Another Perfect Collection"

All four are my favourite Sherlocks (though I seem to say this each time I write a little review) but what else can one say when you love your Sherlock Holmes, for each play shows how good Conan Doyal was at writing his Sherlock adventures, even though he detested his most sought after famous character. All have a fascinating storyline with a little twist.

Perfectly reproduced for radio with excellent actors in these full casts productions, all are classically styled in the Sherlock gas lamp era Victorian style brought to life by Clive Merrison who clearly enjoyed his part as Sherlock and shines with exuberance as the show of private detective who can trance over even the best Scotland Yard top men.

These shows are a credit to what used to be the great BBC before they became the nanny state overbearing PC maniacs.
