Publisher's Summary

Featuring a conversation with the authors!

In a spectacular father/son collaboration like no other, Stephen King and Owen King tell the highest of high-stakes stories: what might happen if women disappeared from the world of men?

In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent, and while they sleep they go to another place....

The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease. Is Evie a medical anomaly to be studied? Or is she a demon who must be slain?

Set in a small Appalachian town whose primary employer is a women's prison, Sleeping Beauties is a wildly provocative, gloriously absorbing father/son collaboration between Stephen King and Owen King.

Never thought I’d say this about a Stephen King...

I’m a fan but quite frankly I was bored...I really didn’t care about any of the characters or what happened to them and I found it patronizing and slow. I didn’t actually get close to finishing the book. I don’t usually criticize anything publically, but I’m surprised this one got published.

Disappointed

The story was good until the end. It left me feeling 'ripped off'. One point remained unanswered, I feel disappointed that it ended as it did.

As a Stephen King fan this was disappointing.

Terrible. I listened intently for an hour and didn't have a clue. Thank goodness for refunds. I wouldn't have guessed it was a Stephen King novel if his name wasn't on the cover.

god I hope this gets some sort of sequel.

Fantastic job by Marin!
It almost always seems that even Stephen King doesn't want to finish his books because of his gift and love to show us into new worlds, another great story with a fall flat ending.
I hope that this perhaps gets a sequel because this is now up there with my favorites.

It has promise to be a great story

I found the constant left vs right political stuff annoying and the dabbling in romanticised adultery turned out to be where my enjoyment of the book ended.

AMAZING STORY LINE! Really enthralling read.

Such an interesting book. Typically King!… but both Kings! Well worth your time 😄. The reader was brilliant also with her character accents so well done.

Could have been awesome

I started listening, but then bought the book to read. The story is great…it’s Stephen King. The narrator unfortunately was not so great.
I struggled to listen to her and get into the story as she tried to do all the voices🙈

Could have been a great audible ….

I enjoyed it

Narrator was great, excepting her Australian accent. The story felt like a good Stephen King book. Not one of the greatest but like an Under The Dome or Needful Things.

My least favourite SK book by far

I love Stephen King - have done so since I was an awkward teenager - and I think his story telling skills just keep getting better with age. This book however is an exception. Maybe it’s the fact that his son Owen wrote some (most?) of it? Maybe it was the narrators inability to voice the different characters? Perhaps it was both of those reasons, but at any rate I barely managed to finish this one. It was boring and slow and nothing really happens. Would not recommend.
