Story
Cody Hoyt, while a brilliant cop, is an alcoholic struggling with two months of sobriety when his mentor and AA sponsor Hank Winters is found burned to death in a remote mountain cabin. At first it looks like the suicide of a man who's fallen off the wagon, but Cody knows Hank better than that. Sober for fourteen years, Hank took pride in his hard-won sobriety and never hesitated to drop whatever he was doing to talk Cody off a ledge. When Cody takes a closer look at the scene of his friend's death, it becomes apparent that foul play is at hand.

Story
US Marshal Arliss Cutter is a born tracker. Raised in the swamplands of Florida, he honed his skills in the military, fought in the Middle East, and worked three field positions for Marshal Services. When it comes to tracking someone down - or taking someone out - Cutter's the best. But his newest assignment is taking him out of his comfort zone to southeast Alaska. Cold, dark, uninhabited forests that are often shrouded in fog. And it's the kind of case that makes his blood run cold.

Publisher's Summary
In 'Shots Fired', Joe Pickett's investigation into a radio call threatens to become his last. In 'Pirates of Yellowstone', two Eastern Europeans find out just how ruthless American tough guys can be. In 'Le Sauvage Noble', a Lakota Indian takes a job at Disneyland Paris.
These gripping tales are proof, once again, of why Box is a force to be reckoned with.

short stories by C J Box . Not as intense
Although a great author, you need to stick with a full novel and leave the short stories to middle school camp fires. Blood knot???? what was that about???
Just stick with Joe Pickett insights please.
