Captain Dean Watters keeps his mission and his team in the forefront of his laser-like focus. So when Dean’s mission and team are threatened, his Special Forces training kicks into high gear. Failing to stop hackers from stealing national security secrets from the military’s secure computers and networks isn’t an option. Zahrah Zarrick is a missionary teacher to Afghan children in Mazar-e Sharif. And a target. When Zahrah is captured because of her expertise in quantum cryptology, compromising the US military, Dean is forced to crack the lockbox around his heart - a move that might come at the highest cost.

"REALLY enjoyed a story involving true Christian believers"
REALLY enjoyed a story involving true Christian believers as the main characters. I deeply wish there were more audiobooks that fit that description: a story involving true Christian believers as the main characters. I don't mean just a pure romance. I'm a guy and would like it to involve other things - in addition to having a strong romantic theme. This one certainly fit that description. The suffering was a bit more of a challenge then I would have hoped for, but I enjoyed this audiobook quite a bit.
The book exceeded my expectations. It was suspenseful. I was compelled to listen instead of doing other things on my to do list.
A Great read and we'll thought out plot
shows a different side to the usual Afghanistan war stories
It's not a great story, it doesn't keep the reader/listener interested throughout.. I think the love story is cheesy, boring and doesn't amount to you feeling anything for the two characters...
Its a love at first sight book, that doesn't feel like love at first sight.
i think this book would have been better if there was multiple readers, mainly a female playing the female role.
it was ok, i mean every book good or bad has something that you can take from it.. i couldn't recommend it though, although there is a story in the book that is touching and probably the highlight of the book.. no spoilers here.
i can't say i was to excited about this book, the story just takes you through multiple war zones where you end up wondering what is the purpose of anything going on...
I love these books. I just wish they had the rest of the series in audio, as well as her other books. She is a great writer!
Good plot and character development. Good narration. No gratuitous sex and violence.
Pleasant voice and good timing.
enjoyed it much. wonderful story of our men who serve in black ops. kept me listening to very end!
"Beware the brutality in this 'Christian' book"
Such a shame. Great author! Really great narrator! But such a horrific story. I wish books came with ratings. I never would have signed up for this violent ride.
"Unless you like wining, clueless characters ..."
The main character does too much wining and complaining about how unfair life is. Both main characters act like children with a crush ... does he/she feel the same, what if they do, what if they dont, how could they feel the same ...
The author asks us to "suspend our disbelief" but it's hard to suspend disbelief to the point that the Special Forces could be as clueless as the book portrays them and the mysterious character at the end could have been in two places at once as the story seems to imply. Maybe the next book in the series clears up the implication that a character was in two places at once but the story line and the shallow characters are not interesting enough to bother finding out.
This is my first book by Ronie Kendig. It started out a bit slow, but once it took off, it was really good. The foreign names got a bit confusing at times. This book is in 2 parts. The second part was definitely the best. I realize it is the first in a series, but I wish she had tied up a few more loose ends. If you enjoy military-type books, you will like this one.
