The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Pop Goes The Weasel - the furiously fast-paced new thriller from M. J. Arlidge, read by Elizabeth Bower.
The body of a middle-aged man is discovered in Southampton's red light district - horrifically mutilated, with his heart removed. Hours later - and barely cold - the heart arrives with his wife and children by courier.
A pattern emerges when another male victim is found dead and eviscerated, his heart delivered soon afterwards.
The media call it Jack the Ripper in reverse; revenge against the men who lead sordid double lives visiting prostitutes. For Grace, only one thing is certain: There's a vicious serial-killer at large who must be halted at all costs....

"Fast pace, interesting, edge of my seat throughout"
This is second book in series and equally as good as the first. I thought the narrative was excellent and added to overall enjoyment. Helen Grace and some of her team return with a new department lead and new murders to solve. Helen is a troubled character (as seems to be the norm in many detective novels!). Clues were followed up and when the details of the killer emerged I was shocked as I had not guessed it. The next book in the series is out in February and I will certainly be getting it. I would highly recommend this one.
"Fast paced, and well read"
The pace was excellent, and although the story was a little far fetched, it was very entertaining.
I enjoyed this book and hope for more in a similar vein from the author.
"A good read"
Another good read from Elizabeth Bower. Tension slowly builds and you get to feel as though you know the characters.
Enjoyed this story very much. it moved along at a fast pace and built up to a exciting final climax
"Even better than the first."
I enjoyed this one more than the first. I think the first book was a good intro into the world of DI Helen Grace but this second book really cements the future of the character. Great narration. Looking forward to future installments.
"Fabulous, fast moving and brilliantly narrated"
One of the very best.
The realisation who the murderer was! "I had to change this because it would have been a spoiler with my original comment".
First class. Excellent voices for different characters. Some audiobooks are spoiled by poor readers but Elizabeth Bower's performance actually enhances an already excellent book.
Gripping thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end...
Definitely one of the best Audiobooks I have listened to - & I have listened to many...
"Like an episode of 'The Bill'. 120 chapters!"
Liked Helen Grace, there's also some very strong subject matter which is par for the course in this day and age but that's all it has.
Fringe characters, story and the overall feel of the book are so weak and frail in comparison to other crime thrillers. I appreciate that this is relative to the calibre of work previously listened to.
Helen Grace is interesting, the other characters are like shadows. 120 chapters in 9 hours really does turn it into a book for the beach, very much pulp crime and has been done so much better by many others.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the narration, a solid three star performance.
It would be an old episode of 'The Bill' if anyone remembers that, very little depth with no feeling at all of different threads being woven into the plot. Very much; we went here, she did that and then she went there. The stars would be Carver, Hollis and June.
This will be the last of the series I will listen to, have listened to this one and the first one which was slightly better. It's all relative and I appreciate that some people will really like these books with their many chapters, ideal for those listening on the beach for several minutes at a time. I prefer a bit of meat on the bone and there is very little here, it's a very basic series requiring little thought and is instantly forgettable.
"great book love this more please"
read with feeling and the chacator voice were excellent great pace really starting to get to the people enjoyable
Love the thrilling story as ever and look forward to reading/hearing more stories of Helen Grace !
Brilliant author and brilliant spoken
Discovered the author after 6 degrees of Assassination. Her books are very well written but praise must be heaped on Elizabeth Bower as the narrator.
Just about to dive into book 3 of the series. Can't wait!
