Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon return in the extraordinary new novel in the number one New York Times best-selling series by the grand master of adventure.
In 1902 the volcano Mt. Pelée erupts on the island of Martinique, wiping out an entire city of 30,000 - and sinking a ship carrying a German scientist on the verge of an astonishing breakthrough. More than a century later, Juan Cabrillo will have to deal with that scientist's legacy.
During a covert operation, Cabrillo and the crew meticulously fake the sinking of the Oregon - but when an unknown adversary tracks them down despite their planning and attempts to assassinate them, Cabrillo and his team struggle to fight back against an enemy who seems to be able to anticipate their every move. They discover that a traitorous American weapons designer has completed the German scientist's work and now wields extraordinary power, sending the Oregon on a race against time to stop an attack that could lead to one man ruling over the largest empire the world has ever known.

Simply cannot get enough of these highly intelligent suspense adventures. Scott Brick also always impresses and doesn't slip even once for an entire 20 hours. Off to order the next adventure!
"Action packed adventure"
This is book ten in the Oregon series. I saw an ad for book eleven in the series and discovered I had missed reading book ten. It has been awhile since I read a Cussler book.
This book follows the Cussler tradition of non-stop action. The characters no sooner get out of one predicament than they plunge into another. In this story the book opens in 1902 with the eruption of Mt. Pelé on Martinique then switches to modern times. Lawrence Kensit is attempting to take over the world. Admiral Dayana Ruiz of the Venezuelan Navy is helping him and of course the crew of the Oregon is out to stop both of them.
The book is well written and has all the high tech wizardry that I like about the series. I did notice the style of writing was different and saw there was a change in co-authors from Jack DuBral to Boyd Morrison. Scott Brick preformed his usual excellent job narrating the story. Brick is known as one of the golden voices of audiobook narration. He has won over 50 Earphone Awards and two Audie Awards. Some of his recent awards are the 2016 Best Voice in Science Fiction, 2011 Best Voice in Mystery and Suspense, 2010 Best Voice in Biography and the 2008 Best Voice in Science Fiction. He has also won awards for acting.
Great narration by Scott Brick. Clive Cussler did it again. I really enjoy his books because of the excitement from beginning to end. He is definitely my favorite author. I can hardly wait til next book comes out. I love when Juan Cabrillo turned the tide and the antagonist received his just reward. While reading or listening to Clive Cussler's books you are sure to expect clean decent stories that are not padded with sexual content or cussing or obscene language. Thanks Mr. Cussler.
"Keeps me wanting more!"
The Cussler team delivers again. I continue to look forward to more Oregon adventures. Scott Brick, is by far my favorite narrator. Keep it coming guys!
"Juan Cabrillo is great"
Clive cussler still has it with the Oregon and Cabrillo. I would love to hear a little more Juan and crew, so keep them coming.
"Oregon wins the day again"
Wonderful narration of a typical Clive Cussler story. He never leaves you disappointed. The Oregon Files, or any other of Mr. Cussler's books, will ever disappoint you.
And Scott Brick is one of the best!
"very good book"
very good book but does not stand alone like some of the other stories. You need the other stories in order to get to this book. not like a Dirk Pitt novel and that you don't need the other books to read this one.
This book is one of the best Oregon books I've heard recently. Great story, interesting characters and the plot kept me guessing.
As always Scott Brick is a master. I couldn't recommend it more.
"Best one yet"
Juan and his crew does it the hard way. Things just don't go right but the Oregon crew outwits a psycho genius.
Typical Cussler book except weakest MacGuffin ever. As usual Scott Brick does great narration, but no matter how much action the lack of being able to suspend belief of main plot device weakens entire book. Really wanted to like the book more being a major Cussler fan. Kept on thinking, "Give me a break"!
"One of Cussler's best!!!"
This is one of my favorite Cussler books so far and I have read all but one or two. I always look forward to the adventures of Cabrillo and his crew.
"Love the Oregon adventures!"
Juan Cabrillo never fails to excite and get get the job done! For anyone who enjoys adventure when the pressure is on, the Oregon stories will be right up your street! Full of capers that are against the clock, people who are one step ahead of Juans team. The route he takes to stop them always have you at the edge of your seat in almost impossible circumstances. Excellent book, I can't wait till the next one is released!
"Not the usual Cussler standard"
Scott Brick tries his hardest to make the book exciting but it is not up to Cussler's usual standard.
The story seems quite fragmented and incoherent. The typically fanciful and enthralling storyline is missing, replaced with a poorly explained scientific surveillance tool that seems too far fetched to invest in.
It's the first time with a Cussler tale that I kept checking the countdown timer as if to speed to the end.
On the bright side there is no cringeworty cameo appearance.
once again an outstanding novel with multi l
level plots that as grippted from start to finish
"Best Oregon files adventure yet!!"
This is by far the best Oregon adventure yet! Scott Brick's narration is flawless and the plot has to be seen to be believed ;)
lovely, it's been a long time now since I've read Clive Cussler. I enjoyed him when he wrote about Dirk Pitt but now that Dirk Pitts kids are in the picture and Dirk on the side, they are not so interesting any more.
The Oregon series is the only other series of Clive Cussler that I'm actually enjoying.
Well told story, can't wait for the next one in the series. . . .
"Absolutely the Best Author in this Genre"
Nobody writes Adventure the way Clive Cussler does, his attention to detail is remarkable. He adds just the right amount of humour into his books but still keeps it as an adventure novel.
Another great book that keeps you hooked from start to finish, now have to wait for the next one
"again another fantastic book from Clive cussler"
the narrator was brilliant such a cool voice and well read. brought the story to life and gave it feeling.
