    "Gripping"

Didn't get a lot of sleep once I'd started to listen. A gripping, pacy novel that had me holding my breath on many occassions. I wasn't too sure about the narration in the beginning but soon got used to it as he suited the 'tough' characters. Not my usual genre but I will now listen to more thrillers.

    Story
    "Tedious and disappointing"

A far fetched tale, overly long and tedious. I couldn't like any of the characters as they had no depth and had nothing of any interest about them.

The story was confused and didn't flow well at all. The only reason I gave a second star was that I did manage to finish it was, albeit with a sigh of relief.

    "Dreary"

I found the narration so dull I could not follow the story, I think the story line might be good but I just couldn't follow it I gave up about a third of the way through I just couldn't stand it any longer.

"Weaver's wonderful web of words and wicked deeds"
Where does Never Coming Back rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among the best of this category of detective fiction.

What does David Bauckham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He gives voice, "literally", to many nuaces of the characters' moods and thoughts othat a silent reader might overlook.

    Story
"Another disappointing listen from Tim Weaver"

After listening to Tim Weaver's 'Dead Tracks', I was a little disappointed, but as I enjoyed the first half I felt the author had promise and wanted to listen to another of his books. 'Never Coming Back' had good reviews on Amazon and in the broadsheets, as well as being on the Richard and Judy autumn 2013 recommended reads, so thought I'd give this a go. I really wish I hadn't bothered and I am struggling to understand why the reviews have been so good. Like 'Dead Tracks' it starts off well and I was really intrigued to find out what had happened to the missing family. However, by half way through I felt that the plot had become farcical and unbelievable with shallow, poorly realised characters. I wasn't sure about David Bauckham's narration, I did get used to it but feel that this audiobook could have been improved by a more convincing narrator.

Sorry, the reader is so bad, I can't get into the story at all. Perhaps I will try again another day.

    "Interesting twists"
Would you listen to Never Coming Back again? Why?

I probably would not listen to it again even though once completed I decided that I enjoyed the story. The narrator had little inflection in his voice which made listening a little tedious at times.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Wondered if the ending might be as it was but never certain.

Would you listen to another book narrated by David Bauckham?

    Not sure about that

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No not an emotional book for me
