Recognising in Miss Marple a natural flair for justice, Mr Rafiel had left instructions for her to investigate a crime after his death. The only problem was, he had failed to tell her who was involved or where and when the crime had been committed. It was most intriguing.

"Joan Hickson is indisputably the best actress to have portrayed Miss Jane Marple on stage or on television." (AudioFile)

I first heard of this book as a Marple episode. The book was a lot better.
The narration by Joan Hickson - she's the definitive Miss Marple.
Yes, quite a few.
This is different to other Miss Marple books, in that she doesn't know what crime she has to investigate, but I like the way Rafiel has organised things beforehand, where various facts will gradually, in various steps, be revealed. One member has commented on the quality of this book. This is not the best recorded book on CD, so it is not Audible's fault. We need to remember that a great number of books on this site have been submitted by other sites, such as Harper Collins, Naxos, BBC, etc.
Really enjoyed listening to this. One of my favourite books. I'm glad I decided to get the audible version.
Well read, well written.
Not a lot more can be said. A humerus and gripping story.
I do recommend this book.
"Classic Agatha by the definitive Miss Marple"
It doesn't get much better than this. Classic Agatha Christie read by the late great Joan Hickson who got it so right when she played Miss Marple on t.v. I was going to bed early every night just to listen !
Miss Marple reads her friend has died.
He left her a left some money and a task, but left no idea what it was ,over the next few weeks Miss Marple is sent bits and pieces of information to solve the task.
remains one of my favourites. beautifully read. highly recommended. go enjoy this clever and very different story
"My favourite Miss Marple"
Although the narration at times is a little unclear, you really can't beat Joan Hickson as Miss Marple. This is an unusual book as part of the mystery is finding out which crime had been committed, as well as the perpetrator. The characters are interesting and there are enough red herrings to keep you guessing right to the end
"Justice is served."
Miss Marple met Mr Raphael in "A Caribbean Mystery" and now, from beyond the grave, he commissions Miss Marple - "Nemesis" - to right a wrong. The tale which follows, if not top draw Christie, is, nevertheless, enjoyable. It made a long train journey simply fly by. I will not spoil your enjoyment of this reading by writing a spoiler of the plot.
Joan Hickson reads with her customary professionalism though I find her voice now a little too frail to be convincing as Miss Marple. I longed for the crisper tones of June Whitfield.
Really, what could be better than this fantastic story read by the great Joan Hickson. For me, no one comes close to Joan Hickson as Miss Marple in the TV series and equally here her reading of Agatha Christie. This has to be my favourite Agatha Christie of all time, so this, combined with great narration is perfect. Enjoy!
"Joan Hickson is Miss Marple"
I've always loved Miss Marple and to find audiobooks read by Joan Hickson was a delight. However in this recording her speech is slightly slurred, I expect due to her age at the time. Once past this however it is a must for Marple fans.
