Nice book.
Loved it! Instantly compelling, with the first caper brimming with edge-of-your-seat suspense. The story telling is charming. Highly recommended if you miss the John Safran and Father Bob radio show. I crocheted my dog a nice vest to this book.

A meserisng true story
This story had highs and lows and it felt like I was taking the journey to Mississippi with Safran. A painful story told with compassion.

Safran delivers what he promises in the title!
In this highly engaging true crime piece, Safran immerses himself right in the depths of Mississippi culture, rife with racial and class tension, in an effort to uncover every detail surrounding the murder of a high profile white supremacist he coincidentally met only months before he was killed. Putting any concerns for awkwardness aside, Safran thrusts headfirst into this case, doing his utmost to engage in conversation (occasionally relentlessly pestering) anyone with knowledge on the killer or the victim. In his signature raw gonzo style, Safran brings everything that makes his television programs so grossly enthralling into his first attempt in the realms of true crime writing. A roaring success which is wildly captivating from start to finish, but perhaps not for those of squeamish disposition. Highly recommended.

Honest
While I love John Safran’s wit and clever delivery, I value even more his honesty and willingness to reveal both his and his subjects’ humanity, in all its strange and wild diversity, complexity, tenderness and brutality. Thank you, John Safran, for another excellent book.

Well worth the listen/read
This is not my favourite work by Safran but it is all the same a gripping adventure.
J. Safran writes with an open hearted honesty laced with laugh out loud humour.
His narration compliments his writing perfectly.
This is a dark story with lots of twists and turns which are, sad to say evident of true human nature when fate deals a difficult turn. Safran manages to bring much of it into the light, through incredible detective work as well as his amazing way of communicating, to us the reader and with the people he meets throughout this riveting adventure!

John Safran being the amazing John Safran
I love true crime and when I saw that John Safran had written a true crime novel I had to grab it! I have followed John Safrans career since the beginning and this book didn't disappoint. His signature humor, candour and perspective are as always, at the front of the book. His dedication to keeping this book about the crime and his investigation is the other key factor in this books success. The fact that John Safran also reads it just added to my experience.

A compelling story told in a way that only John Safran can, the narration is a little lacklustre at first but finds his groove not long in.
