    "Classic Christie, very enjoyable."

One of the few Agatha Christie books I haven't read before. I loved Joan Hickson as Miss Marple in the older DVDs and she made an excellent narrator.

"Joan Hickson - the best Marple"

These stories are evocative of Agatha Christie's general style. They are read by Joan Hickson - the best Marple - from the 1980s TV series. The stories are a light-hearted romp through different times read by a person who made the character her own; an actress from the old school who knows how to use her voice to best effect.

    "Miss Marple Entertains... Again."
Where does Miss Marple's Final Cases rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I didn't think that 'Miss Marple's Final Cases' was as good as some of Agatha Christie's other short story collections, but these stories were still intriguing and enjoyable to listen to.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

As this is a short story collection, the endings varied.

There are eight stories in this collection, six of which feature Jane Marple. The last two stories do not, and are more supernatural in their style (narrated by Isla Blair). However, they all feature the usual Agatha Christie twists and turns.

What does Joan Hickson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The authentic voice of Miss Marple.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I like to listen to short stories one at a time. Maybe before going to bed, or on a short journey even. Which is why I love these type of collections. You don't have to finish these type of books in one go, as there are natural breaks at the end of each story.

    Any additional comments?

As usual with Agatha Christie, these stories are very entertaining and will keep listeners gripped until the end.

    "Exellent."
Where does Miss Marple's Final Cases rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Final cases rates about fourth, after two similar Poirot collections and a similar Miss Marple collection.

What did you like best about this story?

The narration, and the plot twist endings.

Have you listened to any of Joan Hickson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to several of her performances, and I love the way she can make each character distinctive. This is about the level of other performances I have heard.

"Good stories, but Joan Hickson only narrates some"

I bought this book because of the narrator. In my mind, Joan Hickson is Miss Marple. Therefore, I enjoyed most of the short stories, but was a bit dissapointed, when I found out that the last two were narrated by a different actress. Not that she was bad, it just wasn't the same.

    "A Fantastic Mystery Collection!"

This is a fantastic collection of Miss Marple tales! I loved them!

I downloaded this set of six Miss Marple stories in audiobook for my mom, so it would give her something to occupy her time while recuperating; she had been very ill in hospital at the time. I decided to listen to it myself once she had recovered, because I love Agatha Christie's mystery books too.

This audiobook was narrated by one of the best actresses (I feel) to have portrayed Miss Marple, Dame Joan Hickson. Her narration of six of the stories brought them to life for me. And, as she also acted in some of them on TV as serial episodes, I could picture them with ease.

The stories in this collection are:
The man found dying in the church sanctuary
The puzzle of Uncle Henry's hidden legacy
The baffling mystery of the stabbing of Mrs Rhodes
The question of the murderer with the tape-measure
The case of Miss Skinner's Maid
The curious conduct of the caretaker
There are also two bonus stories that were narrated very well by another lady, which were not Miss Marple mysteries. They were called 'The Dressmaker’s Doll’ and ‘In a Glass Darkly’.

Each one of these stories was very entertaining. I love reading mysteries, and Agatha Christie, in my opinion, wrote some of the best detective novels of her day. Her two most well known characters, Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, have entertained readers like me for many years. However, I don't think these were her best stories. Although Joan Hickson did a remarkable job in telling these tales, Agatha Christie seemed to have had rushed a couple of them; the plots were not as solid as her earlier pieces. I will say that The Dressmaker's Doll was extremely spooky, and more like a ghost story than a mystery. Nevertheless, it was a pleasure to listen to all of the stories in this collection. I will be revisiting them again, I am sure!

I highly recommend this book if you love classic mystery or thriller genres. - Lynn Worton

    Story
"Wonderful Joan Hickson & Agatha Christie; but poorly published and useless indexing"

Five stars to the writer and five stars to Joan Hickson who really was the quintessential Miss Jane Marple. And lovely to hear the stories told again by her.
But a woeful effort by Harper Collins who clearly don't give a fig for the convenience of their listening audience. The volume is a collection of stories and clearly some are longer than others. But that is no reason for the careless idiotic editing used for the chapter indexing. By all means split the chapters into smaller sizes, but for heavens sake ensure that each new story does start with a new index position. All that Harper Collins have done is to take the entire disk and divide it into roughly 20 minute sections - so it is virtually impossible to find the start of a story you want to listen to. And just to make it even more difficult for the listener, they haven't even bothered to give names to the Chapters. In 2015 there is no excuse for a large publishing house to treat its customers so deplorably in the manufacturing of Audio Books. Perhaps the clout of Amazon could give them a kick where they need it - their revenues - to improve the customer listening experience.

    Story
    "Breathy, lisping and irritating performance"

I was really looking forward to this. I have other titles read by Joan Hickson and have loved her work. Unfortunately I wish I had not bothered with this one. Joan was obviously very old when she narrated this. This meant that I could not hear it too well and this detracted from the Stories. I didn't mind the last two, at least I could hear them.

    "Marple + pretender"

The Miss Marple stories and Joan Hickson's narration are top notch, as expected. However, a monotonous story (by a different author) about a creepy doll who shows up in 2 seamstresses' shop tainted the collection. Although the narrator (not Hickson) was good, the story was repetitive and boring. It is not worthy of keeping company with Agatha Christie

    "Why?"

Excellent stories and really well told but why do the stories end and a new one start in the middle of a chapter? Have several short story audio books and have found no others like this. It is really irritating if you want to select one particular story to listen to.
