"Another great Gilchrist Novel"
I really enjoyed this. If you have read the previous three books you will enjoy this. Like the previous novels the book has a good mixture of characters and some very tense scenes. There are some really chilling characters which are well written. Gilchrist also has a new sidekick who is the most irritable and annoying character - definitely a test for his and the readers patience! A good listen - very good performance from the reader. I will certainly keep reading the series.
"Great 4th book in the series"
So pleased to see book 4 in the series as I thoroughly enjoyed the first 3. Didn't disappoint! Another great book, and pleased to see the same narrator as he really helped me visualise the characters and the settings. Didn't want them to end and really got into the story- found myself really looking forward to the commute to work!
Hoping there will be more......
"Different to the first three in this series."
I felt this book took a while to get off the ground. I felt myself getting quite annoyed at the new character, Jessie, but then I realised that this is exactly what clever Mr Muir was after.
The book was a bit slower to get off the ground than the first three in the series and Gilchrist was a bit more in the background. Looking forward to number 5 and Mr Muir is already setting the scene for it in this novel.
"IF YOU NEED TO SLEEP DONT DOWNLOAD THIS"
I love books but the David Monteath's narrations gives a depth to the story, he flips between characters with ease, and his skill ensures you know who is saying what without being told
The relationship that builds between the main characters through difficult circumstances adds another dimension to the main story.
I've listened to several books narrated by David Monteath, his performance does not vary and you can be sure of the quality and his ability to engage the listener.
This story does not lend itself to either laughter or tears, it is a thriller in its truest form.
The expression "page turner" really does mean something here, the depth of the story and the excellent narration eats hours (and miles)
I highly recommend to those that enjoy detective thrillers.
"Muir does it again!"
Up there with the best crime/detective novels
Any of the previous 3 in this series
Yes. It compares very well
I don't think detective novels are generally 'moving'
This is the 4th book in the DCI Andy Gilchrist seres and my favourite so far - these books just keep getting better and better. I've introduced a few people to TF Muir books and everyone has enjoyed them.
"Lovin this series!"
I have read all four of these books and they just keep getting better.
My favourite St Andrews detective is back with a new side kick female DS Jessie Janes.
Queue gory murders and much suspense and nail biting wondering if our hero will triumph over the baddies!
The characters are great and the banter of the new DS is by turn great and heart wrenching.
I loved it if detective/murders do it for you this series just gets better and better next one please!
"A compelling crime thriller"
I enjoy crime stories and this one was certainly no exception. The characters were engaging and the narration was superb. I am Scottish and find phoney accents irritating, but in this case the authentic voice worked for all the characters and I was there in the heart of the story throughout. I look forward to listening to another T.F. Muir book, narrated by David Monteath
"Another great offering from T F Muir"
This is the 4th book in the Series and I purchased it without even reading the story line - that is how much I enjoyed the other 3. Needless to say I was not let down by the author, roll on book 5
"Gilchrist gets a new Sidekick!"
Another excellent novel in the series. T F Muir treats us to his usual blend of gruesome plot lines, genuinely scary characters and no little action as the DI Gilchrist story marches forward. Into the pot though he has stirred a new ingredient in the form of a new sidekick. This character may well annoy you . . . but they are meant to . . . worth sticking with it to see how the chemistry between the characters develops.
I know it makes a good story line but surly a DCI would not be so lax to go into a dangerous situation without back up. I liked him till then but he has gone down in my estimation .
