I did as another reviewer suggested and was able to listen to Part 1 and Part 2 straight after each other. The story was good and there are some seemingly impossible happenings in the prison but it is fiction !
"thoroghly enjoyed it"
kept me guessing right to the end would recommend as a good read for all
"excellent sequel to little boy blue"
very much enjoyed this book.
A must listen or read after little boy blue as it completes the story.
I like the authors style of writing and the unexpected twists to the story and characters.
Definitely will be listening to other stories by this author.
narrator also easy to listen to.
great all round.
"Great - but..."
... not as good as the previous 5. It finished the story off nicely, but equally, not the best. However, in saying that, I still enjoyed it and I love the style of writing. It's certainly another enjoyable book my Arlidge. The narration is excellent!
Loved this - the story of both inside and outside the 'prison'. The narration was great and really can't wait to see what is next for Helen Grave
Love the main character, Helen Grace. Just a work of 'art' from M J Arlidge!
As the story starts to climax but I can't say too much and give it all away!!
Few 'huh' moments when you are wondering what is around the corner so to speak!
Just loved it - can't wait for the next and really enjoyed Elizabeth Bower too - will keep an eye on her as well as MJ A!
This book was the best in the series so far, had me shouting at my stereo in panic on more than 1 occasion lol - can't wait for the next book!!!!!!
"Story ok but poorest DI Grace yet."
I have enjoyed all the DI Grace books so far. However as a listener with a good knowledge of the Criminal justice system I found it incredulous that suspicious deaths in a prison did not attract an investigation from the Met police. when more deaths occur this point is stretched beyond belief. A Police officer on remand would never be on the same wing as convicted murders etc and be in the general prison population.Remand prisoners also have a different set of rules etc from convicted prisoners. The wrap up at the end with the demise of Gardiner could also not happen as described. Some obvious research and procedure gaps that did not occur in earlier books. Story flowed enough to keep ones interest but outcome was always predicable. Hope next one is better.
1st class story, with excellent narration!
A great description of the prison, and what it must be like to live in such surroundings.
"Best Helen grace novel yet!"
This is by far the best book in the series so far, the book is a roller coaster of emotions, it gripped me from the very first page, no spoilers, just read it!
"I loved this book."
I read other reviews before listening to this book and wondered if it could be possible for it to be as good the others as it was not long since the last one. I have to say that I was totally wrong in thinking that. It was fast paced and had many intriguing twists and turns. I would thoroughly encourage Helen Grace fans to read/ listen to this amazing book. I miss it already !
gripped from beginning to end ... go Helen!
the best in the series since the first one!
