"Not my genre"
I didn't realize this was Christian fiction when I got the book. The story was good, I liked the characters but there were just too many references to God and whether you should believe in Him or not for me to really enjoy it.
But if that's what you enjoy when listening to books then you will probably enjoy this one.
"Good, for a first novel, plus one."
This is a decent book, especially for first novel (I hope that is what this is). I look forward to seeing how the skills of the author progress.
I felt the storyline flowed, and there were a few twists and turns that were unexpected. I increased the rating by one star, because I REALLY appreciate a clean story! I also wish there was less romance and more of simply friendship building. I appreciate friendship building, but not everything rotates around love.
I don't have any problem with a story that adds Christian themes, and even though this does throw a little in, really it isn't much. Not compared to other books I have read.
The narrator seemed inexperienced, and (hopefully) will improve over time. There were several instances of mispronounced words, page turns are distinctively evident, and a few times that she repeated a sentence immediately after a brief pause. Speaking of which, there are several times, most of which were in the first part, where there were distinctively long, unaccounted for pauses.
Overall, I will try the next book in the series.
"Page turning literally and figuratively"
Great book! Very interesting and well written but the performance was not edited and in some parts repeated. You could also clearly hear the reader turning pages. Outside that it was great
"A decent plotline poorly narrated"
More expression in the voice of the narrator. She reads almost every line in the same tone of voice.
Made the heroine a little less pushy. Or given her qualities which made up for it.
See above. More expression and more sense that the sentences flow into each other.
Umm.. none come to mind.
Change the narrator and I might buy the next one.
"The main character was a bit annoying"
The main character annoyed me at times. She gets herself into situations needlessly and her "investigation" work seemed out of place based on her role. The audio recording was not edited well. There were quite a few times where the audio repeated and you could hear obvious edit cut offs.
"too much clever monologue"
very cute, but I got tired of waiting for the story to continue. but I must confess that by the end I was hooked
"Great story, but occasional background noise"
The story kept me guessing and entertained. However, there were times when I could hear the pages turn or the narrator take a drink and swallow. Because the story held my interest, I wasn't too bothered by the background noise. Some listeners might take offense at these sounds.
"Narration could be better"
No super but good enough to listen to on a trip. Narration not that great.
"Where's the rest of the Series?"
I really liked this book, but the only other of the series of 11 on Audible is book 3. I prefer to listen to them in order. When will the rest be available?
"Almost as exciting as C S I on TV"
The redhead is the person who cleans up crime scenes . She finds herself involved in investigating the crime scene itself . She finds herself threatened by the murderer . And she gets romantically involved with two significant heroes. This story is well worth the reader's time .
