End of Watch is a compelling and chilling suspense novel which sees retired detective Bill Hodges back on the trail of his nemesis, Brady Hartsfield, the criminal the press called The Mercedes Killer.
Foiled in his attempt to commit a second mass murder, Hartsfield is confined to a hospital brain-injury unit in a seemingly unresponsive state. But all is not what it seems: Brady is able to influence both his physician and the hospital librarian to commit crimes in the outside world.
Now the technological genius has created a hypnotic electronic fishing game which compels users to commit suicide, and he is determined to target the three people who put him in hospital: Hodges and his sidekicks, Holly and Jerome.

A compelling and Immersive experience. Narrated with true pathos and drama. Stephen King's mastery of language is given due tribute here.
Great detective story, number 3 in a trilogy. The narrator (Will Patton) transported me back to the radio plays of old. Will Patton is a very immersing and talented narrator.
At best it plodded along. The concepts were sound and the story was almost interesting.
I just finished the trilogy and have to say I absolutely loved it! The narrator was perfect for the stories and bought Bill (and all the characters) to life. Well done Stephen King you have done it again!
Will Patton was perfect for these books. He is an amazing narrator and I will be finding more books read by him!
I wish it didn't have to end!
Bill Hodges returns to front and centre of this concluding story, opposite his nemesis Brady Hartsfield. The plot takes King back towards the supernatural, but it isn't a bad thing. The elements verge more on the side of pseudoscience than supernatural. The characters and pacing remain solid and Patton's narration is once again top notch.
Really well rounded out end to the trilogy. The Narrator is wonderful and consistent. There is not a King book that passes that doesn't leave you with a new way of looking at things and this one is no exception.
"The end of the Bill Hodges Trilogy"
Yes. An easy, entertaining read. Many of the concepts such as core consciousness, mind control and hypnosis are complicated and accepted in the text without explanation. Other concepts such as mind invasion ( one mind physically taking over another) are fantasy, but interesting
When Brady Hartsfield finds he has the power to jump into other peoples minds. When Bill Hodges finds he has terminal pancreatic cancer.
Great performance. Entertaining
No. The concepts were too far out to evoke an emotion in me. Sad to see the series end , though.
At times Stephen King suffers from being a horror writer. He is writes well enough and his concepts are elegant enough that they could stand on their own without sensationalism. However, Can' t argue with success.
"Not the best of King"
I loved Will's performance. The story though was wanting and I forced myself to just complete it because it is a Stephen King novel. I loved his work growing up but am not sure why this series was hard for me to love. I listened to all three books. I love the second one better than the first and this last one.
I found the Mountain Man series by Keith C Blackmore a much better book by far compared to this book by King.
"End Of Watch"
Frackin' Loved It. My first audible. And who better than Stephen King as my first...who better? Know one.
This was my first audible book I found it interesting and could imagine the places it was set in good story .
"Book 3 a little more like King of old in subject"
End of watch was enjoyable but not quite as good as the first but on par with the second the subject was a little more like King of old....
I am a big Stephen King fan and have read the vast majority of his bibliography. Some, like It, the shining, the stand and the different seasons collection, I have read many times. I really admire how king can create realistic, likeable characters and give them interesting things to do. The character relationships and interactions are always the highlights of his novels and the bits I enjoy most. I think it used to be a bit of a crutch for King to write supernatural novels, known as the horror writer, but I think his best writing comes from real world situations and characters. (the body, Rita Hayworth and the shawshank redemption). This is why I was a bit disappointed that this real World Series closed with telekinesis and mind control being a major part of the plot. I still enjoyed it, but would rather this stayed a bit more grounded like the other two Bill Hodges novels. Oh well, seems that the old dog might learn new tricks but prefers to sit up and beg!!
"great ending to the triology loved it"
Will Patton was an excellent narrator i reallly started to love the characters im actually sad its came to an end! one of Stephen King's best.
Just wish there could be more of Bill and Holly. Maybe Holly can hook up with another character.
The narrator is great.
"Final installment much better than the second"
Compared to the second book this is so much better and has a good ending.
"Terrific end to the trilogy "
It's possible that Stephen King can do no wrong. I've never been disappointed in a single novel to date, and this trilogy i found to be one of his more satisfying works. It skirts on the edge of fantasy and I find interesting parallels to the unrelated although in a similar writing period to joyland. I actually listened to these in the wrong order, starting with finders keepers, as I didn't realise they were part of a set, Mr Mercedes next and finished with this. It didn't much matter its an extremely engaging series that will have more than enough to satisfy king and non king fans alike
"A slow burner"
Good, what you would expect from Stephen kink Lots of quirky characters, and creepy goings on,good night time listening.
HOLLY "FRACKIN" GIBNEY!!
Nuff said really, cracking finale to an absolute rollercoaster of a trilogy!
i never review things but these books asounded me! truly brilliant :)
