Publisher's Summary

Razio Yamata is one of Japan's most influential industrialists, and part of a relatively small group of authority who wield tremendous authority in the Pacific Rim's economic powerhouse.

He has devised a plan to cripple the American greatness, humble the US military, and elevate Japan to a position of dominance on the world stage.

Yamata's motivation lies in his desire to pay off a Debt of Honor to his parents and to the country he feels is responsible for their deaths - America. All he needs is a catalyst to set his plan in motion.

When the faulty gas tank on one Tennessee family's car leads to their fiery death, an opportunistic U.S. congressman uses the occasion to rush a new trade law through the system. The law is designed to squeeze Japan economically. Instead, it provides Yamata with the leverage he needs to put his plan into action.

As Yamata's plan begins to unfold, it becomes clear to the world that someone is launching a fully-integrated operation against the United States. There's only one man to find out who the culprit is - Jack Ryan, the new President's National Security Advisor.

Critic Reviews

"As always, the author of Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger spins out story threads in a rich but bewildering tangle of plot and setting, then vigorously weaves them together. Here, the heart-stopping climax is unexpected, but oddly appropriate." ( Publishers Weekly)
"A harrowing tale... Clancy keeps you riveted with political intrigue and military maneuvering [and] sends you rushing headlong to the book's stunning conclusion." ( USA Today)

Debt of Honor

An in-depth storyline that like a box of puppies are all finally all in the box. The storyline has so many facets that initially I wondered where it was going. On a different note that I must research the date of writing is the parallel of the 9/11 Plane attacks... So which came first? The Book or 9/11

My favourite Tom Clancy Novel performed well

This is my favourite Tom Clancy Novel and the reading and characterisations from John MacDonald ensured an engrossing experience from start to finish.

So good

Tom Clancey has done it yet again. For a writer so technically fluent he still manages to fill his writing with emotion and suspense. To date this one would have to be one of the best I have read in the Ryan series (They're all good though)

Great story but tough narration

A brilliant story, one of the best Clancy but I did struggle with the narration. It took me about 4 hours to get used to it. At points it felt rushed and unclear.
Story however is great, great twist at the end, no spoilers

Michael Pritchard he is not...

Would you listen to Debt of Honor again? Why?

No. The voice artist's voices are strained. His recording was not checked (at points edits are obvious and passaged repeated). Words like "coyote" are mispronounced. Accents are absent.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This is a Jack Ryan novel. Jack Ryan.

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of John MacDonald?

Michael Prichard

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The Clancy novels are all excellent. Fans of this genre and this author will experience the story just how the author intended.

Any additional comments?

Not surprised, but so disappointed to see that 'Audible posts reviews at its discretion'... Undermines the point of reviews.
