Publisher's Summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author W. E. B. Griffin comes the dramatic third novel in the Clandestine Operations series about the Cold War, the fledgling Central Intelligence Agency - and a new breed of warrior.

January 1946: Two WACs leave an officers' club in Munich, and four Soviet NKGB agents kidnap them at knifepoint in the parking lot and shove them in the back of an ambulance. That is the agents' first mistake, and their last. One of the WACs, a blond woman improbably named Claudette Colbert, works for the new Directorate of Central Intelligence, and three of the men end up dead and the fourth wounded.

The "incident," however, will send shock waves rippling up and down the line and have major repercussions not only for her, but for her boss, James Cronley, Chief DCI-Europe, and for everybody involved in their still-evolving enterprise. For, though the Germans may have been defeated, Cronley and his company are on the front lines of an entirely different kind of war now. The enemy has changed, the rules have changed - and the stakes have never been higher.

    "Typical W.E.B - GREAT!!!"

I always enjoy his work. Always gripping and entertaining. They just end too soon!

This new series, Clandestine Operations, is a fantastic addition to W. E. B. Griffin's legacy.

"the quality is back in the WEB Griffin books."

I devour every book put out under the WEB Griffin name except the Badge of Honor series. I've read the first 8 or 9 of them but just don't get into them the way I do the military series. I thought the quality of the books dropped somewhat when the son (I think son) started writing them. One thing I never cared much for was how a large part of the start of a book would cover what had happened in the previous book. Well let me tell you this book has all the quality of WEB Griffin's early books and none of the problems. I enjoyed every second of this book and hope whoever is writing them now gets away from the Badge of Honor series and back to any of the military series. I can't wait for the next book. I rate this book excellent.

What disappointed you about Curtain of Death?

Very sophomoric in plot and nature of characters in the story are a joke

Has Curtain of Death turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not necessarily as there are many good authors out there with more believable story lines.

Would you be willing to try another one of Alexander Cendese’s performances?

    Very hesitant to do so

What character would you cut from Curtain of Death?

    Most

    Any additional comments?

W.E.B Griffin has fallen greatly from his early days. If he is not writing or consulting on these "stories" his name should come off the title page.

    "Great!"

This was a good one! I've followed this series and others by the author(s), and if they stay at this quality, I'll never move on.

    "Good but not great"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Leave out the tongue and cheek jokes like mess kit repair company and hide the organization within another organization

Would you be willing to try another book from W. E. B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth ? Why or why not?

    Probably

Do you think Curtain of Death needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The cold war always provided a background for spy stories,so why not a sequel.

    Any additional comments?

Make the main. Character real. If he didn't want to draw attention to what he.was.doing why fly an illegal plane?

    "Disappointed"

After a long wait for this release, the payoff was unimpressive. As a fan of the collaborative team of WEB Gruffin, et al, I had hoped for a more personal and interesting story line. Instead, the book was plumped up with constant, repeated retelling of previously introduced stories. A, frankly, lazy effort. I'm counting on the next offering to be more diligently crafted.

Nothing to draw me in, heavy conversations and men impersonating women characters. Had to turn it off.
